Why shouldn't things be largely absurd, futile, and transitory? They are so, and we are so, and they and we go very well together.

http://www.pakin.org/complaint/

Quote
There are many problems with Miss D.'s ramblings.  The one that's the most blatant, and the one that I will limit my discussion to, is related to her overt support of alarmism.  For practical reasons, I have to confine my discussion to areas that have received insufficient public attention or in which I have something new to say.  You and I have a lot more class than D..  Although others may disagree with that claim, few would dispute that you may make the comment, "What does this have to do with soporific buffoons?"  Well, once you begin to see the light you'll realize that if you're interested in the finagling, double-dealing, chicanery, cheating, cajolery, cunning, rascality, and abject villainy by which D. may lead us, lemminglike, over the precipice of self-destruction sometime soon, then you'll want to consider the following very carefully.  You'll especially want to consider that D. would have us believe that education should teach the precepts of sesquipedalianism and the duties of man towards base-minded bureaucrats. Not surprisingly, her evidence for that completely scabrous claim is top-heavy with anonymous sources and, to put it mildly, she has a checkered track record for accuracy.  I maintain it would be more accurate for D. to say that she should stop telling everyone that her causeries are innovative.  More apt words for them might be "static" or "stale" or even the phrase, "been done" with the possible addition, "too often."  What I'm getting at is that D.'s expostulations have created an abhorrent, combative universe devoid of logic and evidence.  Only within this universe does it make sense to say that superstition is no less credible than proven scientific principles.  Only within this universe does it make sense to trample over the very freedoms and rights that D. claims to support.  And, only if we compile readers' remarks and suggestions and use them to spread the word about her Pecksniffian litanies to our friends, our neighbors, our relatives, our co-workers—even to strangers—can we destroy this wayward universe of hers and do what needs to be done.

D. says that we can trust her not to alter laws, language, and customs in the service of regulating social relations.  That's her unvarying story, and it's a lie: an extremely ruthless and cold-blooded lie.  Unfortunately, it's a lie that is accepted unquestioningly, uncritically, by D.'s sycophants.  I have reason to believe that she is about to keep us perennially behind the eight ball.  I pray that I'm wrong, of course, because the outcome could be devastating. Nevertheless, the indications are there that if I chose to do so I could write exclusively about D.'s spiteful, short-sighted conclusions and never be lacking for material.  Nonetheless, I'd rather spend some time discussing how D. has long wanted to prevent anyone from stating publicly that only by taking risks and pushing boundaries with this letter can I investigate her hubristic, puzzleheaded principles, ideals, and objectives.  Why do I bring that up?  Because by studying her repression of ideas in its extreme, unambiguous form one may more clearly understand why D. just reported that governments should have the right to lie to their own subjects or to other governments.  Do you think that that's merely sloppy reporting on D.'s part?  I don't.  I think that it's a deliberate attempt to diminish our will to live.

We should agree on definitions before saying anything further about D.'s benighted ideas.  For starters, let's say that "Oblomovism" is "that which makes D. yearn to create an unwelcome climate for those of us who are striving to grant people the freedom to pursue any endeavor they deem fitting to their skills, talent, and interest."  It's easy to tell if she's lying.  If her lips are moving, she's lying.  It's astonishing that D. has been able for so long to get away with promoting revisionism's traits as normative values to be embraced.  I can't think of anything that better illustrates the failure of our justice system to deal with such lubricious, unprincipled dodos.  In closing, it hardly need be said that the views expressed above are tentative and suggestive.  You should now go off and perform a thorough study of your own.  Of course, this will be an exercise in futility unless you accept the fundamental premise of this letter, namely that there are lawsuits in Miss D.'s future.
