The editor of the Beyond the Sun Anthology, Bryan Thomas Schmidt, is trying to raise money for the project via Kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/601968027/beyond-the-sun-anthology).

One of the stories from Beyond the Sun is "Respite" (http://www.graspingforthewind.com/2012/10/09/exclusive-excerpt-from-beyond-the-sun-sf-respite-by-autumn-rachel-dryden) by Autumn Rachel Dryden.

Beyond The Sun is an anthology of space colonists stories currently being funded on Kickstarter. Editor Bryan Thomas Schmidt (http://www.bryanthomasschmidt.net/) really needs your help to make it happen. Writers include Robert Silverberg, Mike Resnick, Nancy Kress, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Cat Rambo, Jennifer Brozek, Jamie Todd Rubin, Brad R. Torgersen, Jean Johnson, Erin Hoffman, Jason Sanford and more. If the project is funded, it will be released either print on demand by the editor or with a small press. The goal is to pay the authors and artists to illustrate the stories at professional rates. In this economy, many small presses are struggling, so the editor felt the concept and talent deserved better than token rates and decided to bring it before fandom and ask for support. There are some great prizes, including special artwork, signed copies, and more available to backers. U medjuvremenu, posto su prebacili 50K, sedmog dana dodali su jos 5 knjiga tj. stripova za iste pare. Ako je neko slucajno vec pazario knjige plativsi ih preko proseka moze slobodno da ih downloaduje. Jos samo da im pohvalim ninja support, za 2 minuta su mi otvorili nalog i ubacili prethodnu kupovinu da bih mogao da svucem novu ponudu.

What's it about?

Waylines is a bi-monthly speculative fiction magazine that will publish science-fiction, fantasy and horror, as well as stream short genre films.

Why it's interesting: Waylines was co-founded by director/writer Darryl Knickrehm and former Ideomancer Magazine managing editor David Rees-Thomas. The magazine will be available for free through their website WaylinesMagazine.com (http://waylinesmagazine.com/). Each issue will include four short stories, one editorial, one film and interviews. Issue #1, which is set to be published in January, features an interview with Cat Rambo. Knickrehm and Rees-Thomas have opened up submissions and say they're looking for "life-changing, classic, mind-bending fiction." A $10 pledge gets you Zero Issue, available online to Kickstarter supporters.

Why it's interesting: Shadows and Reflections is being edited by Roger's son Trent Zelazny and publisher Warren Lapine. Editors will include stories by Roger's "better known friends," but if the campaign reaches its $10,000 goal they plan to open the anthology to unsolicited submissions.

Ellen Datlow (http://www.datlow.com/) is partnering with Chizine Publications (http://chizinepub.com/) to Kickstart a new horror anthology to be edited by the former and published by the latter.







TORONTO, Ontario (December 10, 2012) – Ellen Datlow has announced the beginning of a Kickstarter campaign to fund a new horror anthology. Titled Fearful Symmetries, it will be published by ChiZine Publications in early 2014.
Given the rapidly changing publishing market, Datlow decided to turn to Kickstarter as an experiment to see if it could fund the project. The campaign will go toward the editing, layout, and production of the book, as well as offering professional rates to the authors. Datlow selected ChiZine Publications based on the quality of their books and distribution.


"This project is close to my heart," says Datlow, "which is why I've decided to appeal to the public through Kickstarter. And while I have a stable of writers whose work I love, I want to give a chance to new talent that I may not be aware of. I want them to write the stories they've always wanted to and perhaps couldn't because there was no venue for them."


Unlike a lot of her anthologies, Fearful Symmetries will not have a theme. Datlow intends to solicit work from well-known horror writers, as well as those selected during an open reading period, something Datlow does not do often. If the campaign is a success, Fearful Symmetries will be released as a trade paperback and eBook, and is expected to be 125,000 words long.

Hi. My name is Neil Clarke and I'm the editor of Clarkesworld Magazine and a current Hugo Nominee for Best Editor Short Form. Last July, I suffered a "widow-maker" heart attack that nearly killed me. The damage to my heart was very significant and that led to my doctors installing a defibrillator in my chest. That day, I became a cyborg.
I've been working on Clarkesworld for almost seven years, but I've never edited an anthology that wasn't Clarkesworld-related. I just didn't come across anything that inspired me. Trust almost dying to provide you with inspiration. As I began looking into the possibility of a cyborg anthology, I quickly noticed that the cyborgs most people think of are villains (Cybermen, Darth Vader, the Borg, etc.). My people make excellent villains, but that only represents the tip of the iceberg. The more I thought about it, the more certain I became that this was the anthology project I had been looking for... a cyborg-edited cyborg anthology. I don't think that's been done before. Besides, cyborgs are cool.

It seems only appropriate that this campaign will end on the first anniversary of my heart attack.
Upgraded has already reached and passed its target goal and is now a fully-funded project. However, there are additional funding goals that can be reached in the next two days. I funded at the $25 level, and for that I get:
