According to The Hollywood Reporter, Terry Hayes has been hired by the Alphaville company to script THE BOOK OF SKULLS, from Robert Silverberg's novel. William (THE EXORCIST) Friedkin will direct this story of a quartet of college students who uncover a book which reveals the existence of a sect that holds the secret of immortality—but there's a deadly price to be paid for it. Hayes got his start working with director/producer George Miller, penning THE ROAD WARRIOR, MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME and DEAD CALM; his other credits include FROM HELL, the soon-to-roll airborne thriller FLIGHT PLAN (in which TATTOO's Robert Schwentke will direct Jodie Foster) and an early, more visceral script for the PLANET OF THE APES remake that was to be directed by Paul Verhoeven.
