Avi Lerner and Danny Dimbort's Millennium Films and Randall Emmett and George Furla's Emmett/Furla Films announced they have acquired the rights to produce and distribute a feature film based on the "Red Sonja" property as well as the allied and ancillary rights. The picture will be produced by Randall Emmett, George Furla and Avi Lerner as well as executive produced by M. Dal Walton III, Luke Lieberman, Nick Barrucci, Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short and Boaz Davidson. The property is currently out to writers and directors.
A remake of "Red Sonja" is currently in the works. It is currently in pre-production and very little has been decided on. It is scheduled to be released in 2008.

Roy Thomas's "Sonja" is considered much different from Robert E. Howard's original "Sonya". Besides tweaking the spelling of her name, Thomas transformed her from a limited, supporting character into a full heroine of Conan's Hyborian Age and removed Sonya's pistols.
On June 6, 2006 comic news site Newsarama reported that Red Sonja, LLC (which holds rights to the Roy Thomas version of the character) filed a lawsuit on four counts against Paradox Entertainment (which holds rights to Red Sonya as part of the Howard library) in US Federal Court in April of 2006. The four counts are claims of copyright infringement, trademark infringement, trademark dilution, and unfair competition

Jasno je da film isključivo zavisi od toga ko će igrati Crvenu Sonju jer ćemo im u slučaju da izbor bude pravi,oprostiti sve eventualne nedostatke kod režije i scenarija a bogami i sporednih likova.Samo, ko je prava Crvena Sonja?
Producenti govore o glumicama sa A liste ali ja se ježim i od same pomisli na Anđelinu ili Džesiku Albu sa crvenom perikom ili ne daj bože Nikol Kidman u srebrnom bikiniju.
Svi pravi fanovi stripa po forumima uglavnom se slažu da bi pravo rešenje bila neka anonimna glumica,najbolje Ruskinja čime bi se s obzirom na položaj Hirkanije prema Hauardovim mapama,još više dobilo na autentičnosti .Zato američki fanovi i insistiraju da bi ako Sonja ipak bude iz Holivuda,morala da govori "tvrdim ali seksi" slovenskim akcentom.Od Holivudskih glumica najviše pominju Kristanu Loken.
Suma sumarum-traži se glumica koja likom podseća na Sonju(meni je verzija Nestora Redonda najbolja),dobra je riba,bar malo zna da glumi,i ume da uverljivo radi akcione scene(jahanje inkludid).Nemoguća misija??
Osim svega ovoga,ja se ipak bojim da nije u najavi samo još jedna strip ekranizacija za decu koja će kao i sve dosadašnje biti samo ušminkani bućkuriš napravljen od sterilnih likova superheroja i specijalnih efekata,a ne ono što bismo svi želeli da vidimo-brutalna i krvava priča o najvećoj ratnici Hiborijanskog doba sa odsecanjem glava i ruku i dosta golotinje.

According to Luke Lieberman from Dynamite Entertainment, the actor playing Red Sonja will be A-list, and Brigitte Nielsen is definitely not in the movie as IMDB says. He also said they're trying hard to get away from the first movie, and make a GOOD one this time.

Possible candidates could be one of the women from this list, as Lieberman referred to a page listing these women as having "a bunch of them" (considerations for the role).

Izbor se očigledno suzio na dve kandidatkinje-Džesiku Biel
i Kristanu Loken.Fanovi sa zvaničnog sajta Red Sonje su dali prednost Džesiki i o tome obavestili producente.Inače,budžet filma je 25 miliona $.

Kristanu smo videli razgolicenu vec u dva navrata, a kod Dzesike se jedva kroz maglu secamo polu golih fotki od pre 100 godina, dok je jos bila maloletna i snimala sapunice i porodicne gluposti za Spelinga.

Rodriguez, McGowan team for 'Red Sonja'

Robert Rodriguez and Rose McGowan will reunite for comic book remake Red Sonja, reports USA Today.

McGowan's character, created by Robert E. Howard in 1934, is a flame-haired sword and sorcery heroine described by Rodriguez as "whip-smart... sexy and extremely strong".

"I was surprised when Rose brought me a script of Red Sonja that she liked," Rodriguez said. "I found it very entertaining. Sonja was strong, smart, cunning - just about everything she'd have to be to survive."

Rodriguez will act as the film's producer with Douglas Aarniokoski (Highlander: Endgame) directing.

Rodriguez and McGowan, a couple in real life, previously worked together on Grindhouse and plan to make a new version of Barbarella.

Red Sonja was the basis for an unsuccessful 1985 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Brigitte Nielsen.

S jedne strane dobra vijest, pošto je skoro sigurno da ćemo vidjeti golotinju, jerbo Ruža ne spada baš među najstidljivije glumice u Hornivudu.
Što se Dž. Albe tiče, ne mogu da vjerujem da neko može ozbiljno nju da razmatra - em što je jedino dobra za mrljave romantične komedije, em što se NIKAD ne bi skinula.

Kristana Loken bi bila logičan izbor, već je super odigrala sličnu ulogu u Prstenu Nibelunga. S tim što je za očekivati da će producenti ipak uzeti nekog drugog, da se ne bi pravila repeticija već viđenog.

Vest da će Rodrigez biti producent bila je naravno kod fanova Red Sonje dočekana sa oduševljenjem jer je to obećavalo da će film biti mračan,brutalan i krvav,blizak originalnoj ideji R.Hauarda a ne klasična holivudska action hero limunada.
Pozitivno je primljen i Rodrigezov izbor reditelja,Daglas je bio prvi asistent na Resident evilu a njegov rad na zadnjem Hajlenderu je pokazao da bi mogao uspešno da režira ovu vrstu filma.
Ali je zato prva sledeća reakcija bila :Joj,ne,pa taj meksički papučar će sigurno ulogu Sonje dodeliti svojoj fufi Ruži.
I na žalost,to se obistinilo pa ćemo umesto Džesike,Kristane ili Megan u gvozdenom bikiniju morati da gledamo džanki fejs metar i žilet visoku bucku Rose Mc Gowan.

Meni su lobanje OK (uostalom i sam Conan je voleo da se vere na brdo leševa/lobanja i da pozira), ali posteri zaista previše liče na jeftinu imitaciju hita SIN CITY.

Ovo jeste preliminarni promo art, verovatno će biti nekih krupnijih izmena. Bar se nadam da će biti.

Meni se čini da će RED SONJA 2010 biti prilično jeftin film (RR ne režira, samo producira), a učešće Douglasa Aarniokoskog mi ne uliva neku pretranu nadu.

Njegov Highlander: Endgame (2000) je bio pobezveze.

Megan Fox Is Red Sonja?

Megan Fox is reportedly in talks to play the title character in upcoming epic Red Sonja.



It's a little bit surprising, because we all had a chance to hear some rumors about Rose McGowan in the same role, but now it looks like Conan star will be replaced.

So, get ready for Megan Fox as Red Sonja in the remake/reimagining of the pulp fantasy heroine!

So, let's see how the whole thing started up.

Red Sonja project is the new version of the comic book character who first appeared in Conan the Barbarian comics in the early 1970s. This character was invented by Conan's creator Robert E. Howard and adapted for Marvel Comics by Roy Thomas.

At first moment, as we reported, actress Rose McGowan revealed that Millennium Films will wait until after Conan the Barbarian remake is complete to see if they want to make Red Sonja.

A lot of things changed since then, so we're now in some kind of Red-Sonja-puzzle.

Pajiba reported that the studio has abandoned everything that they have already set up for the film. Director Douglas Aarniokosky is off the project, McGowan will not be asked to return, and a new writer is being searched for. There's no mention if Rodriguez will still be on as a producer or not.

So, as you see, the only thing that's now the part of speculations is Megan Fox, and her new role. Is she going to be good enough? Is it time for this young actress for this kind of role, or is this just a little bit different way to show how good looking she is?

Because, we must remind you that this isn't the same Red Sonja Rodriguez had planned! No! This take is supposed to be about a teenager who morphs into some sort of super babe warrior.

So, as you see, Fox could actually get to play an innocent teenager who metamorphosizes into an unparalleled warrior. Ok, you could say that she's maybe not good enough, but this doesn't sound like some serious plot as well, so she could be quite good, why not?

Anyway, we all remember a film from 1985, with Brigitte Nielson in the role where she sparred with Arnold Schwarzenegger's Conan the Barbarian.

The character is described as "the most beautiful and fearless woman in Hyrkania". Megan Fox definitely is beautiful, but we'll have to wait and see how fearless she is. So stay tuned!

Amber Heard For Red Sonja?
With Simon West directing?



With Conan the Barbarian 3D approaching the status of done-and-dusted, thoughts at production company Nu Image are turning to what comes next. Speaking to Empire this afternoon, producer Avi Lerner let slip that Red Sonja, long in development hell, is right back on the ajenda, with Simon West (The Mechanic, Con Air) in the frame to direct, and Amber Heard the favourite to fill Sonja's oh-so practical chain-mail bikini.

Sonja, lest we forget, is sort of a Robert E Howard creation, but actually has more to do with Roy Thomas' Conan comics for Marvel. She was previously embodied onscreen by Brigitte Nielsen in 1985, with Arnold Schwarzenegger also on-hand as the all-but Conan Prince Kalidor.

Twenty-odd years later, Sonja reared her crimson head again, in a projected film that was to star Rose McGowan, with Robert Rodriguez producing and Doug Aarniokoski (Highlander: Endgame) behind the camera. Teaser artwork was produced showing McGowan in costume, but the rest was ultimately silence, and as of last spring, the whole shebang had basically been scrapped and started again with a new team.

Which brings us to today, and Avi Lerner's confirmation that Sonja is still very much a going concern. "We didn't want to start it until we'd finished Conan," he tells us, but with confidence in Marcus Nispel's revivified warrior growing, and a sequel already in development, Lerner reveals that, "We will definitely shoot Red Sonja in between Conan and Conan 2. We already chose the director: an English guy called Simon West."

It sounds as if West will get going on Sonja (if you'll excuse the expression) after he completes The Medallion with Nicolas Cage. The second half of Lerner's bombshell is not a done deal however, although it does sound entirely plausible.

"We're talking to a few girls for the role of Sonja," he says, "but we just finished a movie called Drive Angry with Amber Heard, and I want to see her. She's my favourite for the role."



Mandy Lane as a sword-wielding, free-running warrioress? Oh hells yes. "Amber is the new Red Sonja... but she doesn't know it yet!" laughs the producer. "When you write it she'll get the shock of her life! She'll call me and say 'How dare you talk to Empire before you talk to me?!'"

Amber, if you're reading this, go easy on Avi, or at least try not to get blood on the contract.

We'll have more Red Sonja and Conan developments as they emerge. In the meantime, Drive Angry is out on February 25, and Conan the Barbarian 3D on August 19.
