Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures is remaking a pair of European horror films.

First up is Anguish, a remake of the 1987 Spanish pic that was written and directed by Bigas Luna. The company behind such horror hits as The Grudge films has also acquired the remake rights to the Danish movie Room 205 (trailer), which was first reported on Bloody Disgusting back in October of 2007.

Anguish follows two girls who, while watching a scary movie, find themselves in a horror film of their own when their life starts to mirror the pic's plot.

Jake Wade Wall (When a Stranger Calls, Amusement, The Hitcher) penned the screenplay.

Ghost House's Raimi and Rob Tapert are producing Anguish alongside Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee and Doug Davison (The Strangers). Ghost House and Vertigo previously worked together on The Grudge and The Grudge 2. Mandate Pictures' Nathan Kahane and Vertigo's Sonny Mallhi will exec produce, and George Ayoub will co-produce.

Ghost House has tapped Room 205 director Martin Barnewitz to helm the English-language remake, which is being redubbed The Dorm.

The story centers on a college freshman who moves into a dorm only to find that her room is haunted by sinister forces. Stephen Susco, who wrote The Grudge and The Grudge 2, is adapting.

Raimi and Rob Tapert will produce The Dorm, and Kahane will exec produce.

James Marsden to Star in Straw Dogs Remake

         

Writer/director Rod Lurie ("Nothing but the Truth") has found his leading man for his remake of Sam Peckinpah's 1971 thriller "Straw Dogs". James Marsden, most famous for playing "that other guy" in big Summer event movies (he was that guy standing in the way of Superman and Lois Lane in "Superman Returns" and that guy standing in the way of Jean Grey and Wolverine in the "X-Men" movies), will assay the role of a former country bumpkin who makes good as a city folk, only to return to his homestead with his city folk wife before finding their new country home besieged by locals.

The original "Straw Dogs" (based on "The Siege at Trencher's Farm" by Gordon Williams) starred Dustin Hoffman and was set in the English countryside. The remake will transplant the story from the English sticks to the deep South. THR says Marsden would play the role of David Summer. Unless, of course, they decide to unnecessarily change the character names.

The pivotal role of Amy Summer (originally played by Susan George) has still not been cast.

Marc Frydman will produce the remake with Rod Lurie, who will write and direct. Gilbert Dumontet will executive produce for Screen Gems. Filming is set to begin in August of this year.

Mickey Rourke has signed on to star in a remake of classic 1980s Brit gangster pic "Mona Lisa."
Rourke will play an ex-con who takes a job as a chauffeur for a high-class escort. Eva Green is in advanced negotiations to star opposite him.

Bob Hoskins and Cathy Tyson starred in the original 1986 pic directed by Neil Jordan.

Helmer Larry Clark ("Kids," "Wassup Rockers") is writing and directing the remake, which is being produced by Handmade Films with Handmade Films Intl. handling worldwide sales.

Lensing is set to begin in New York in July.

Rourke's deal was brokered by agent David Unger, Bill Sobel of Edelstein, Laird and Sobel and HandMade's Patrick Meehan.

Music video director Carl Erik Rinsch is rumored to be helming a potential and totally unnecessary reboot/prequel to the "Alien" franchise for 20th Century Fox reports Bloody Disgusting.

Story details are unknown but sources say the idea is to return to the formula of the first film (one alien, one ship) and the film could be a non-Ripley involved film set before the events on the Nostromo in Ridley Scott's 1979 "Alien" to avoid both continuity problems and the scorn of the franchise's fans who'd be very vocally disapproving of a straight up remake.

Sources also claim that Michael Costigan, Ridley Scott and Tony Scott are all on board to produce. At last report back in April, Scott was said to be "toying around with the idea" of another "Alien" film.

Fox's planned reboot of the "Predator" film franchise with Robert Rodriguez announced the other month, combined with the successful relaunch of the "Star Trek" film franchise which also kicked off with its first film in 1979, has understandably led credibility to such a rumor.

None of the principals or the studio has commented on the story yet so take it as rumor for now.

Columbia Pictures has set Kurt Wimmer to write "Total Recall," the remake of the 1990 sci-fi mind control film that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Wimmer has been working with the studio on "Salt," the Phillip Noyce-directed espionage thriller whose lead character underwent a gender change when Angelina Jolie signed to star in the film after Tom Cruise dropped out. Wimmer wrote the story for that film and shares screen credit with Brian Helgeland.

Wimmer also co-wrote the F. Gary Gray-directed "Law Abiding Citizen," which stars Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, for the Film Department.

"Total Recall" was resurrected for remake earlier this year by the studio and producer Neal Moritz and his Original Films banner. Pic will be a contemporized adaptation of the science fiction saga based on the Philip K. Dick story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale."

Columbia secured remake rights from Miramax, which has the option to co-finance the film when it is ready to shoot.

At one point in the script while Ramirez (MacLeod's mentor, played by Sean Connery in the original) is teaching MacLeod how to fight, he tells him to always become proficient with the weapons of the time, and use whatever is necessary to gain an edge.

Later we see MacLeod employ a sniper rifle in the hope of catching The Kurgan unawares and dispatching him from a safe distance. This all might be practical, but by including this element much of the charm of the original film is lost."

Da zaboravimo na trenutak šarm i unikatnost originala. On će snajperom da gađa, sa bezbedne udaljenosti, nekoga koga nije moguće ubiti na taj način, time bi nekako trebalo da dobije prednost (nemam pojma kako, 'ajde da ga je nečim razneo na komade, ali ovde ne vidim nikakvu prednost), i to dovoljnu prednost da može da se sa te bezbedne udaljenosti sjuri i odrubi mu glavu.

I to bi trebalo da bude praktično?

They're not quite certain ''which way they're going to go'' - Me, I say go with 'Son of Teen Wolf'! - but I'd say it's pretty safe that whatever and whoever's script they go with will again tell the story of Scott Howard and his pesky hair prob. Not expecting anything too original here. But then, it's "Teen Wolf" - no need for too big or audacious an idea.

Danas sam prolazio pored Doma sindikata i imao sam šta da vidim... Najava za bioskopsku premijeru filma MOJ KRVAVI DAN ZALJUBLJENIH 3D (My Bloody Valentine 3D).

A? Šta kažete? Koji preokret.

Pre mesec-dva sam kupio originalni DVD sa ovim naslovom, a sada stiže i u bisokope sa zakašnjenjem od gotovo godinu i po dana u odnosu na američku premijeru. Ali, po svemu sudeći - a to je i jedino važno - biće prikazivan u 3D verziji. To znači da ću se konačno omrsiti jednim 3D hororcem...

Ja imam 3D verziju na DVD-u i čini mi se da je dosta slabije urađena od nekih drugih filmova (npr. Coraline). Nadam se da je bioskopska izvedba bolja. Inače, film sam gledao u 2D verziji i sasvim mi je solidan. Vidi se da su neke scene pravljene specijalno za 3D, npr. krampa (ili, kako vi to kažete, pijuk) koja leti prema kameri itd. Moglo bi da bude zabavno.

Meni Bladi Valentajn deluje kao da je pravljen za "staroshkolski" 3d, dakle nema onog proseravanja sa "ulazhenjem u univerzum" i 3dom koji se svodi na dzbunje u prvom neoshtrom planu i dzunglom u trecem, vec je u pitanju onaj pravi tri-de u kojem svakakva sranja lete ka tebi a ti si sav impresioniran i osecash se kao da si platio skuplju kartu sa nekim  razlogom, a ne da bi gledao pochetak kose Rejfa Fajnsa u drugoj dimenziji u odnosu na njegovo lice.
