Doduše, za sada samo u rimejku španskog remek-dela REC. Lik ljubopitljive novinarke u američkoj inkarnaciji tumači Jennifer Carpenter, a društvo joj prave Johnathon Schaech, Jay Hernandez, Columbus Short & Rade Šerbedžija.

Na netu se upravo pojavio red band trailer za Karantin & prilično je dobar. Začuđujuće, Ameri su priču obogatili novim detaljima koji se lepo uklapaju u priču SPOILERS: zaraženo kuče napada, karantirani čuju na TV-u kako je "kuća evakusiana" i da su svi stanovnici "na sigurnom", vojnik upuca čoveka koji je pokušao da izađe napolje... END SPOILERS

Ko zna, možda rimejk bude i pristojan? Pogledajte trailer, ali se čuvajte: prilično je nasilan. Moj omiljeni deo je kada jednog od zaraženih tuku u glavu kamerom koja sve to beleži...

Ja sam se i nadao da bi, nakon što je kraj originalnog filma ladno ubačen u trejler, tu moralo da bude još nešto. Nisi stavio link za taj trejler? In any case, pošto je rimejk savršenog filma, Karantin će da bude u najmanju ruku interesantan, a sve preko toga je bonus.

A šta je red band trailer?

Pogledao sam trailer. Da prije toga nisam gledao [REC], ovo bih unaprijed proglasio za remek djelo. Ali i ovako izgleda odlično. Da li konačno poslije toliko godina imamo dobar američki rimejk?

These rating cards appear at the head of movie trailers in the United States.

A green band is an all-green graphic at the beginning of the trailer, usually reading "The following PREVIEW has been approved for ALL AUDIENCES by the Motion Picture Association of America," and sometimes including the movie's MPAA rating. This signifies that the trailer adheres to the standards for motion picture advertising outlined by the MPAA, which includes limitations on foul language and violent, sexual, or otherwise objectionable imagery.

A yellow band is a yellow graphic that reads "The following PREVIEW has been approved ONLY for AGE-APPROPRIATE internet users by the Motion Picture Association of America" (for example, the trailers for Halloween, Burn After Reading and The Strangers). The MPAA also mandates that trailers not exceed two minutes and thirty seconds in length, and each major studio is given one exception to this rule per year.

Trailers that do not adhere to these guidelines may be issued a red band, which reads "The following PREVIEW has been approved for RESTRICTED AUDIENCES ONLY by the Motion Picture Association of America," and may only be shown before an R-rated, NC-17-rated, or unrated movie.

Odigrao sam QUARANTINE: THE GAME.

Igra je prilično jednostavna i linearna, ne očekujte raskošnu grafiku, ali može da prođe - naročito ako volite originalni film. U pitanju je FB pucačina sa elementima avanture. Vaš zadatak je da se šetate po dobro nam poznatoj zgradi, ubijate zaražene stanare i tražite sakrivene predmete. Igru prate simapatične međuanimacije: prepoznaćete neke scene iz REC-a.

Evo kako da završite igru za 10-ak i manje minuta.

U predvorju, kod sandučića, nalazi se mapa - pokupite je, bez nje ne možte dalje. Nastavite, ali pazite da van neko ne padne na glavu. Kod stepenica na vas skače zaraženi, metak u glavu će završiti posao.

Popnite se na I sprat. U prvom stanu možete poslušati vesti i ubiti jednu zaraženu stanarku (nažalost, nije nana). U hodniku stoji malj. Pokupite ga - kad ispucate sva 4 metka, malj će vam biti od velike pomoći.

Na II spratu uđite na prva vrata - naći ćete ključ za tavan na polici sa knjigama ili u komodi. Poubijajte zaražene (2 komada) i uzmite ga.

Da bi premostili pukotinu na III spratu, potrebno je da otkinete vrata sa jednog od stanova. Poubijajte sve što vam se nađe na putu i pravac tavan.

Tavan vam je poznat iz filma, klikćite, istažujte... U jednom trenutku ćete pronaći "tajnu video traku"... Ukucajte svoje podatke (ime i rođendan mogu biti lažni, važno je samo da "Imate više od 18", ali zip code mora da bude autentičan - na primer: 94102-7007) i pogledajte RB trailer. Posle toga će vas napasti glavni neprijatelj. Dva udarca u glavu maljem i pobeđen je.

Tada će vam se pojaviti upozorenje da je vreme da se popnete na krov: zaraženi samo što nisu provalili vrata. Koliko sam shvatio druge opcije sem penjanja gore nema... Ali, kada se uzverete na krov: sledi vam metak u glavu.

Sjajno, to ću da igram čim mi stigne brzi Internet. A ima li kakvih indicija da bi Quarantine mogao da zaigra u našim bioskopima?

Na sajtu piše da film počinje da se prikazuje u Srbiji 27. novembra 2008. godine (u HR nedelju dana ranije, za BiH ne piše).

Dok čekaš, pogledaj šestu epizodu antologije FEAR ITSELF: New Year's Day. Nije nešto posebno, ali ima taj [●REC] meets 28 WEEKS LATER vibe.

Damn, nisam uspio da pređem igru    Nisam dovoljno dobar sa čekićem i nekoliko puta su me roknuli, a kako nema SAVE opcije, valja svaki put ispočetka. Jes' da igra nije duga, ali ipak...

Kako bi samo bilo dobro da naprave full-length FPS po ovome!

ovi su se izgleda SLEPAČKI držali REC-a, tj napravili shot-for-shot remake!

ovaj varajatijev pouzdan rivju definitivno razvejava svaku nadu da je kraj u USA ikako izmenjen/dorađen/dopunjen u odnosu na španski oriđinal:

Predicated on the idea that whiplash pans, inconstant focusing and other faux cinema verite embellishments can refresh even the moldiest of zombie-movie tropes, "Quarantine" is a modestly inventive, sporadically exciting thriller that nonetheless proves too faithful to its central conceit for its own good. Based on the 2007 Spanish-produced "REC," pic repeatedly sacrifices coherence, and undermines audience empathy, with its vertiginous shaky-cam approach. Poor word of mouth could hurt theatrical biz, but homevid viewers might bite.

Working from a well-structured script he co-wrote with sibling Drew Dowdle, director John Erick Dowdle ("The Poughkeepsie Tapes") deceptively dawdles over the opening scenes as reality TV reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman, Scott (Steve Harris), ingratiate themselves with their latest subjects, firefighters Jake (Jay Hernandez) and Fletcher (Johnathon Schaech).

The pace quickens only slightly when a 911 call leads the firefighters and two LAPD officers -- and, of course, Angela and Scott -- to a small downtown apartment building where an elderly resident is found covered in blood and breathing erratically. Unfortunately, she's not nearly as fragile as she appears: Without warning, she attacks one of the cops, ripping away a huge hunk of the poor guy's throat with her teeth.

A bad situation soon worsens as the luckless folks inside the building find the complex has been sealed off by the Center for Disease Control and various heavily armed military types, as whoever turned the old woman into a flesh-eating marauder is highly contagious.

Ratcheting up the suspense, helmer Dowdle unfolds the action more or less in real time while presenting everything from the p.o.v. of Scott -- or, more specifically, his video camera. (Think "Cloverfield," writ small.) "Quarantine" relies heavily on shadowy atmospherics and cheap-but-effective shocks, while the infection slowly but surely decreases the number of non-zombies in the building.

Fortunately, the bogeymen can be pounded into submission, or killed, with blunt instruments. Pic's highlight is a shocking, hilarious scene in which a zombie is beaten to a bloody pulp with the omniscient video camera.

Unfortunately, Dowdle goes overboard with the fake-reality-TV excess, dashing the camera hither and yon so frenetically that it's difficult, if not impossible, to keep track of who's where, and how individual characters might be interconnected emotionally or spatially. By the time Angela is flailing about in the darkness of an attic lab, her frenzied gestures may produce giggles, not shivers, from a sensory-overloaded aud.

Even so, perfs are credible across the board. Harris gets minimal screen time, but still manages to limn a compelling character. And considering the limitations imposed by the storytelling gimmick, pic's ending -- not unlike the finale of "The Blair Witch Project" -- is surprisingly satisfying. (It might have been even more impressive had it not been excerpted in the theatrical trailer.)

If the plot sounds familiar, then you have probably seen the 2007 Spanish horror movie of which this is a remake, namely [REC]. Yup, that didn't Hollywood long, almost faster than it takes the CDC to efficiently quarantine a downtown L.A. apartment block, even blocking cell phone reception and Internet access in the process.

"Hollywood is sensing that humanity is collectively acting crazier than usual . . ."

Blame the current End Of Times zeitgeist, but both the "horror movie filmed by a participant with a hand-held camera" and the "disease turning ordinary people into crazed killers" thing have practically become subgenres in their own rights as of late. This past year has seen the release not only of Cloverfield, but also of Diary of the Dead (directed by George Romero of all people!) and of course [REC]. And now this. It sure took those Blair Witch Project imitators a while to get going when one thinks about it! (Blair Witch was made back in 1999.)

"Mysterious disease turning people into crazed zombies" movies are also of course a dime a dozen since 28 Days Later practically reinvented the genre back in 2002 and even major blockbuster movies starring Will Smith have cashed in on the, er, craze since then. (Other recent examples also include The Signal, Automaton Transfusion and Pulse. Plus Stephen King's novel Cell about a cell-phone signal turning people into zombies is about to be filmed as well.)

Why this sudden spate of zombie plague outbreak movies? Maybe Hollywood is sensing that humanity is collectively acting crazier than usual. Blame the hole in the ozone layer, blame the economic downturn or the morbid thought that Paris Hilton is getting her own Reality TV show. The truth is that all these zombie rage movies are a giant metaphor for road rage. Or just a plain old fear of strangers. Either way, hands up if you've had a recent road rage incident, some stranger Hulk-ing out on you. Or maybe you were the one Hulk-ing out. Point is that the only strangers you are most likely encounter in your daily routine would be some belligerent asshole whilst stuck in traffic. Same with these zombie flicks in which the only strangers you are likely to encounter are violent cannibals who want to eat your brains. Freud can write a dissertation on it and call it The Zombie Flick and the Discontents of Western Civilization . . .

Quarantine obviously doesn't score high on the originality meter, but how does it rate as an example of these two subgenres? Well, for starters, the hand-held camera work didn't want to make us want to throw up in our popcorn as it did in Cloverfield. Maybe that is because the camera is supposed to be handled by a professional cameraman working for a television station. Story-wise it not only makes sense, but also saves on one's Dramamine bill. Sure, there are moments of confusion in which you'd be wishing that they had used a more pedestrian way to film the story. (And one in which they wouldn't be accused of copy cat-ism.)

There are also one or two decent jump scares, plus one genuine "ewww, gross" moment involving an infected rat. Also, the film's distrust of the authorities – it is revealed that they lie to the media by claiming that everyone in the building had been evacuated when they obviously haven't – is to be admired. Acting is OK too, but actress Jennifer Carpenter of Exorcism of Emily Rose fame surely deserves some kind of award for giving the most hysterical over-the-top performance in horror movie since Marilyn Burns in the original 1974 Texas Chain Saw Massacre. One simply doesn't know whether to pat her on her head for her high-spiritedness, or throw a bucket of ice-cold water over her. Maybe both.

Ultimately though the stink of over-familiarity hangs over the proceedings like the putrid rotting flesh of a zombie and Quarantine will have audiences rolling their eyes at this latest entry in the whole horror movie as documentary subgenre . . .

Dakle, ovo bi trebalo da je do sada neko već pogledao, right? Očekujem (pozitivne) komentare!

Pogledao sam danas film u TUCKU, mislim da smo Ginger i ja prvi sa foruma koji smo to uradili...

Iskreno, onako među nama, film je onakakav kakav sam i očekivao - gledljiv (čitaj: podnošljiv) ali ni prineti or'ginalu. Doduše, Ameri su scenrio menjali više nego što sam mislio da će menjati, ali te pomene nisu donele boljitak: dapače. Kad se nešto zamislim, KARANTIN me je prilično podsetio na famozne Demone 2, što jasno govori da je napravljen otklon u odnosu da mnogo elegantniji i svedeniji izvornik, remek-delo poznato kao [Rec].

Ako nekog nešto konkretno zanima, neka samo pita! Od mene film ima umerenu preporuku: ali pre svega da bi se podržala distribucija horora u bioskopima.

I osrednji rimejk [REC]-a je bolji od nikakvog. Ja sam već izgubio svaku nadu da će film ovde da zaigra u bioskopu, pa čekam da stigne DVD da ga ovjerim.

...što se samog filma tiče, krenuo je kao doslovna amerikanizacija, a intervencije koje su izabrane nisu KARANTIN učinili boljim od RECa, već su mahom nepotrebna istrčavanja (Kinezi su postali Afrikanci...), film prođe bezbolno ali brzo i ishlapi iz mozga (barem mi se tako čini), a blago makrocefalitična Jennifer Carpenter nije ni prineti španskoj urmašici...

...film jeste umereno zabavan, ali daleko zabavnije su bezumne prevodilačke bravure Dušana Medića... evo nekoliko: 'with nobody' je 'nisakim', 'unit A/B/C...' kada je očito da se govori o stanovima na raznim spratovim u njegovom viđenju ipak ostaje  'jedinica', tkaonica tj. 'fabric workshop' u zadnjem delu zgrade postaje 'fabrička radionica', a Anđela Vajdl viri dok ekipa epidemiologa vrši test nad zaraženim, prenosi šta vidi i dok epidemiolog sprema bušilicu ona kaže 'He's got a drill', što Medić u prevodu iskaže kao 'PROLAZI KROZ PROCEDURU'...i sve to uz već tradicionalno gender-bender poigravanje polovim u prevodima Tuckovih naslova...

 Fino! Nadam se da će i meni da zapadne neki tako solidan prevod.

Ko god da je na IMDb-u radio na FAQ za ovaj film, zna šta je zombi!
