Ridley Scott Returns to Direct 'Alien' Prequel

Despite earlier reports of him selecting Carl Erik Rinsch to direct the project, the helmer of 1979's 'Alien' has been confirmed attached to the director role.

The man behind 1979's "Alien", Ridley Scott, is officially attached to direct "Alien" prequel, Variety reported. The updated news contradicts earlier reports which suggested that Ridley appointed commercial director Carl Erik Rinsch for the role behind the camera, and supports rumors that 20th Century Fox won't green-lit the movie without the Academy Award-nominated filmmaker.

Back in May, Entertainment Weekly (EW) had come out with a story that there are conflicting ideas on who should take the director seat. While Ridley wants Rinsch to take the job, "the studio is not interested in greenlighting a prequel unless Scott himself directs," so the publication stated. To complicate things even more, Rinsch has more than a professional relationship to Ridley as rumor has it, he is romantically linked to Ridley's daughter, Jordan.

Scott's new "Alien" eyes a 2011 release and is set to be a prequel to the 1979 science fiction horror film starring Sigourney Weaver. Fox has recently hired screenwriter Jon Spaihts to pen this prequel, which is planned to adopt the original concept of just one alien creature with a possibility of an origins story being developed.

English director Ridley Scott has been nominated for three Academy Awards for directing "Thelma & Louise", "Gladiator" and "Black Hawk Down". He was also the man behind several box-office movies, which include "Kingdom of Heaven", "American Gangster" and "Body of Lies". The 71-year-old is currently attached to direct Russell Crowe-led film, "Robin Hood".

Ovaj o PRIKVELU nisam video. Da jesam, pisao bih tamo. No dobre duše u administraciji sajta mogu ta dva topika da spoje u jedan... Glomazan je ovaj sajt postao. Ne može se sve na njemu ispratiti.
