Mr Momoa, you hаve been here for 2 months now, how do you feel in Bulgaria?


-Everyone is super-nice and friendly and I feel very safe. Sofia (the capital of Bulgaria) is an unique city. It offers many things that America can't. I had the pleasure to feel 3 seasons for this short time - snowy winter, spring and a few days ago summer. It is wonderful to be in a foreign country and see how all this happens. I found all the graffiti on the walls a bit an unpleasant surprise. I am not a fan of street art. Nowadays in America so many graffiti can't be seen. But at the same time it makes me feel like in a movie set.

How did you prepare physically for the role?
-I spent a lot of time lifting weights and sword-fighting. Every day I practiced sword-fighting for 2 hours, then another 2 hours lifting weights. And stretching after that. I spent 6 hours a day training with the stunt team "87eleven". these guys put me in the shape I am in now.

Do you do martial arts?
-I had never done it before. While working on 'Stargate:Atlantis' I had to use a sword but the guys from '87eleven' are incredible. They taught me to use a boken - a training samurai sword made of wood, which was something completely new to me. It is exciting but afterall ut is just a film fight.

Did you have to gain weight for the role?
-Yes, from the very begining of preparation I had to be 110kg - the heaviest I have ever been. And now I am back to mu usual 102 kg. It was very difficult to work out and constantly keep the musculature.

What makes your Conan different?
-Well I am playing him! And I am different compared to any other Conan in the world! I am different because I am a savage and I come from a line of savages (laughs).

Did you get into the character's psychology, did you find what motivates him?
-I read REH a lot. I loved the comic books when I was a kid. I haven't seen the movies though, but when I got the part I started reading Robert Howard's stories furiously. they fill my imagination. They were a good guide for me. Everything that I needed for this character could be found there and I felt a connection with him.

You used to be a successful model, do you think that cinema us the logical continuation of your career?
- This is my first big movie and I am very excited to see what happens next. I got the part thanks to a tv series for HBO that will be released soon. It is interesting that I play Chingiz Khan, and now Conan - 2 absolutely insane characters. I would love to see who will kick the other one's ass in a fight.

Did you have any doubts before accepting the role?
- Yes, I did because the script wasn't finished. But when I met the director, he ensured me that the script will be fantastic and then again I really wanted to play Conan. She is an incredible character!

What is your opinion of the work of the other very famous man, also born in Honolulu? You must know whom I am an talking about?
-I love Obama, and I heard that Obama also loves Conan.

Do you like night life? What do you think about it here in Bulgaria?
-I really love the Italian restaurants in Sofia. Actually my family is now waiting for me in one. I also visited a few night clubs but I do now like chaos music, I prefer relaxing with blues. So I love the food the most. With the crew we often visit Mexican restaurants, because we are all from California and we miss burritos, tequila and margarita.

Who is your idol in Cinema?
- I do not have any idols in cinema, but I have another and he is the musician Tom Waits.

Do you like "New Boyana" and working with the "New image" crew?
-The studio 'New Boyana' is fantastic! Incredible grounds and a lot of incredible people. Bulgarians treat me very well, right Sophie? (he turns to the make-up lady who is taking off loads of 'cuts' from the body of Conan). Yes, everyone here is fantastic. Bulgarian stuntmen are incredible. I love 'New Boyana'.

Marcus Nispell

You have said that shooting Conan is a childhood dream. How do you feel now having fulfilled your childhood dream?
-When I was a kid, films came to theaters years after the premieres in America. I am from germany and there we had to wait half a year or si for StarWars or Conan. But we listened to the soundtracks, saw the action heroes and knew about the movies. So we imagined them before actually seeing them. So I basically created the movie in my head. Now everyone keeps asking me if I am doing a remake. And i reply that this movie is the movie I imagined seeing when I was a child. And I am shooting it the way I saw it in my head,not in the way it actually was.

Did you like shooting in Bulgaria?
-When I first hear that the movie will be made in bulgaria I wanted to come and see the country. I found out that they managed to make Bulgaria look like New York or LA for the "Black Dahlia". But this place is very appropriate for Conan. You don' have to beuild sets here - we have everything we need. We were in near Varna in Pobitite Kamani (http://en.wikipedia....i/Pobiti_Kamani), in the caves near Kaliakra. And that is much better than special effects. Konan is an action hero based in reality, he is not from another planet, he is on Earth - just like Tarzan. This is why I didn't want to paint or build something that I can find for real. Middle ages are still alive in Bulgaria and this is Medieval history (?!WTH).

What do you think about Bulgarian actors?
- When I first came here I was dubious. I had no idea that I would find so many good actors, who have worked on many intertnational productions. The 1st day I took a walk and just watched poeple and said to myself - 'This guy, he would be amazing for the movie, and this one too.'
And then I had 4 teams of poeple I wanted to work with. They all just looked great and they all had fantasic physique and structure. And I can work with them perfectly because they speak English very well. This didn't seem to matter when Arnold was Conan, but our Conan has more to say and this is why we wanted someone with good English. We searched for a Conan everywhere - In Russia, Iran, Iraq, Germany, Norway, Sweden and finally we found our man and he lives just 20 minutes away from where I live.

And how is this Conan movie different from the previous movies?
-The previous ones have the same name - 'Conan'. But we won't be making the same film. We are going back to the source books. These books have inspired hundreds of graphic novels, loads of video games and a film that was made in the age of disco, when special effects meant a great deal. We decided to make this movie more real, with less special effects but with stunts. This is why everyone on the team does martial arts. Even the actor who plays young Conan. I think that this is something new nowadays when there are so many video games, special effects and we are making a film that is closer to an authentic experience.

What will the soundtrack be? Have you though about Bulgarian input?
-Strange, the person I am thinking about, whose music we fell in love with. he plays this instrument - gaida (something like a bagpipe)And we like him a lot. The Conan Universe - Hiboria is perhaps very close to the size of Bulgaria because when you pass through it you can see africans, arabs, asians - it is like a mini-universe. So the music will change with the movement of the characters from one place to another. But I decided that the village Conan is from will be like Bulgaria.

How do you explain yourself the trend of remakes of movies from the 80ties? 'Clash of the titans' was released recently and so has your 'Friday1'.
-Because we already remade everything from the 70ties and we need to continue forward.

And what do you think about 3d cinema? is it taking over the world?
You know, I was a bit suspicious at the beginning. But I like it, the technology has improved. Now you can shoot in 2D and make it 3D in post-production. You can decide how three-dimentional you want it to be and if necessary go back - it is all insane. But the magnificence of 3D is that it makes poeple go out to the cinemas, and not watch pirated copies. They are coming back to cinemas.

You have experience in horror films. Will we see elements of that in Conan?
-Conan is definitely a film for adults. There is sex, violence and loads of action. He is a barbarian and everything will be a lot of fun. But there is nothing sadistic.

Did you like filming in Bulgaria and will you shoot another movie here?
-I really liked Bulgaria and my team. I didn't see a Bulgarian loosing his temper. I met a lot of good poeple and talented. When I brought my wife and kids, I had no idea how they would react. After a week my wife said: I love Bulgaria because I love Bulgarians. They are real.

Would you shoot a historical film about Bulgaria?
-I would be glad to make such a film, because 20 years ofter no one would be remaking it. It is time for something original, right?
Actually I am considering a film project, that will probably come here. It is about WW2 and out common past (Germany and Bulgaria) and it will be very interesting

Ovi shotovi iz filma izgledaju kao neki fantasy wallpaperi preterano obradjeni u photoshopu. Film ce provereno biti sranje.

Zgađeni Milijusovim svetogrđem i najavljenim najnovijim holivudskim skrnavljenjem omiljenog im Simerijanca u Nispelovoj režiji ,Konanovi fanovi su rešili da uzmu stvar u svoje ruke i da sami snime film o svom idolu,baš onako kako treba da izgleda.

U film će biti pretočena čuvena Hauardova priča The Frost-Giant's Daughter.


Početak snimanja je zakazan za  23. januar u planinama Sijera Nevade, a budžet je 5000 dolara.



Već su našli i glavnog glumca koji izgleda bolje i od Džejsona i od svih ostalih koji su bili u ozbiljnim kombinacijama za ovu ulogu.



Jedini problem je što tih 5000 dolara još uvek nemaju, već početak snimanja zavisi isklučivo od toga da li će potrebnu sumu uspeti da prikupe do kraja januara.
U tu svrhu je otvoren poziv za donatore a u zavisnosti od visine donacije možete da dobijete poster filma(minimalna uplata od 25 dolara),da vam se specijalno zahvale na špici(250$) ili da budete specijalni gost na premijeri(uplate od 1000$ i više).
Za sad su sakupili samo 400 dolara, a s obzirom na to da su autori najavili super hot glumicu u ulozi nimfe Atali,mislim da bi najlakše zaokružili budžet ako svako od gikova koji uplati po 50 dolara, dobije večernji izlazak sa njom.

E, šta ti je Holivud.Scenarista na samom setu prepravlja i dopisuje scenario a scenografi mu za nekoliko dana naprave to što je zamislio.

Inače,Conan fan film koji sam gore pomenuo počinje da se snima u nedelju jer su Konanovi fanovi uspeli da sakupe potrebnih 5000 dolara za snimanje.
Ovo su lokacije na kojima će se ekranizovati REH ova priča The Frost-Giant's Daughter sa muzikom
Title Test (FGD)
i test fotka sa ekipom zalljubljenika u srednjovekovno ratovanje The Vikings of Bjorns(nešto poput domaćeg Svibora) koja će se šibati u sceni bitke.

Ovo je fotka sa probe dvoje glavnih glumaca a tu je i fotka na kojoj se Natalia Sofia koja tumači nimfu Atali, u pauzi relaksira sa Konanovim(Vil Mek Majkls) kućnim ljubimcima.




Problem može da bude to što reditelj Sanlin hoće da snimi verziju koja bi mogla da se postavi na Youtube pa nastoji da outfit svoje glumice tome prilagodi,tj da umesto vela koji ona nosi u originalnoj priči i koji mnogo ne sakriva na nju navuče neku rimljansku haljinicu.

Malo previše CGI dekora za moj ukus. Nekako su mi Ong Bak 2 i 3 iako nisu baš neki filmovi pokazali da se ova vrsta filma može snimiti a da lokacije izgledaju autentično i priželjkujem da je i Konan išao istim stopama.

Da je Zak Snajder, sve bi bilo u redu.

Bilo bi nešto usporenije i jednako loše. I 300 i Pathfinder su užasni filmovi.

Dobar je.

Suprotno očekivanjima,Džejson neće biti glavni problem ovog filma.Ali je zato sve ostalo što se vidi u trejleru razočaravajuće.
Film vizuelno izgleda kao mešavina Princa Persije,Sudara titana i Skorpion kinga.
Ušminkana i šljašteća fotografija,CGI animacija i efekti na sve strane,eksplozije kao u nekom modernom akcionom hitu,slowmotion kadrovi kao u Matrixu,oni smešni ljudi od peska koji gađaju Džejsona nekom vrstom šurikena kao u nindža filmovima,negativci,scenografija i kostimi kao iz neke SF TV serije.
Ni Rejčel Nikols nije ostavila bogzna kakav utisak. Suviše je svilena i meka,ni s od strasti,ona jednostavno nema izgled žene iz Hiborijskog doba,teško će nas ubediti da bi pravi Konan pao na ribu poput nje.

Zvuči apsurdno, ali mane ovog filma će doneti i nešto pozitivno-pošto trejler obećava skupu i šarenu akcionu pop-corn avanturu,a gologrudi Džejson će bez sumnje privući i znatan broj gledateljki,pa će zato novi Konan će sigurno imati veliku gledanost u bioskopima što će garantovati snimanje nastavaka.
A time se povećavaju šanse da sledeći film bude mnogo bliži Hauardu i vizuelno a i po priči i da se režija poveri reditelju koji će to znati da prenese na filmsku traku kako treba.Ako angažovanje ludog Mela spada u domen teorije,dobar je i Nikolas Vinding Refn ili Nil Maršal.

U međuvremenu pojavio se tizer Konan fan filma o kome sam ovde pisao.

(nije to Holivud,ništa CG,trikovi i sranja,sve je pravo),pa je reditelj
na svakih deset minuta morao da joj greje noge ispod svog pazuha.




Inače,Vil koji glumi Konana se na snimanju previše uživeo u ulogu.

Muzika u trejleru jasno govori koja je ciljna grupa.

Ma metalci su u svakom slučaju ciljna grupa za film o Konanu,ali ovaj grozni metal iz trejlera srećom neće biti korišćen u filmu.
Skor je radio Tyler Bates(300,Watchmen,Dawn of the Dead),ali šta god da napravi džaba mu posle Bazila.
Ono što je zanimljivo jeste najava korišćenja bugarske tradicionalne muzike u filmu.

Samo da nije CGIja.

Čim sam čuo da je Tyler Bates  radio muziku spustio sam očekivanja na nulu. Još me zanima iz nostalgičnih razloga, pa mogu samo pozitivno da se iznenadim.

Pa dobro, čovek napreduje čim ovaj put potpisuje da uzima bugarsko-balkanski melos za razliku od skora u 300, da ne zalazimo sad u Tita Andronika (mada i to može da se pomene s obzirom da se Nispel očigledno izdašno koristio rimskim škartovima kada je oblačio statiste).

Na Youtube-u, u komentarima ispod trejlera za Konana, neki lik kaže kako je pročitao sve priče i kako je Švarceneger jedini pravi Konan i uvek će to biti. Alo?!!!? Šta je sa ovim fanovima?  Konana ne čini obim bicepsa - svako ko je čitao Howarda trebalo bi da zna da se u njegovom svetu pojavljuju ljudski likovi opisani kao mišićaviji od Konana. Gde su njegove vatrene plave oči koje su uplašile toliko muškaraca i opčinile toliko žena, a koje Howard opisuje maltene na svakoj stranici? Gde su njegova mačja spretnost i prirodna inteligencija (nasuprot čisto tupavom izrazu lica kod Švarcenegera)? Momoa ima ponešto od tih kvaliteta.

pogotovo ima te vatrene plave oči koje od silne vatre vuku na braon... 

Te celicno plave oci, kao gleceri jezera Micigen.

Kao da se to ne može srediti. Bitnije je da ima harizmatičan pogled, ako je uloga kala Droga ikakva indikacija.
