Resistematizacija je dugotrajna i bolna. To čak nije recept socijalističkih uređenja.

Ukrajina nema ni naftu i gas. Jedino što ima je plodna zemlja. Otprilike 10 Vojvodina.

U svim zemljama SSSR-a većina živi u gradovima.

A danas svi imaju tamo i mobilne i internet i kablosvku tv.

mac

Prva strana medalje prevaže u odnosu na drugu stranu medalje. Ljudi nisu glupi.

How Obama's White House Lost Ukraine in a Few Stupid Steps

QuoteNo one wants to say so, but the Obama administration has backed the wrong horse in Ukraine, and the misguided wager is a big loss. It is hardly the president's first failure on the foreign side, but it may prove the costliest of his many to date.

For a while it was possible to pretend, just barely, that supporting the coup against Viktor Yanukovych, the elected president hounded into exile in February, would prove a sound judgment. Obama always came across as a welterweight in the ring with Vladimir Putin, simply not up to the Russian leader's command of all available moves. But one could imagine Secretary of State Kerry clearing an exit corridor with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

For a while it looked as though the provisional government in Kiev might prove worthy of bailout funds from the U.S., the European Union, and the International Monetary Fund, despite the new regime's legitimacy problems. Putin took (back) Crimea and prompted little more than impotent bleating, true. But there was hope that this new bunch could hold together what remained of the nation at least until the elections scheduled for May 25.
It is all by the boards now. Regardless of how you may construe these past six months in Ukraine, we have just watched a failed effort to wrest the nation straight out of Russia's sphere of influence and insert it into the West's. It is now easy to conclude that the second-term Obama White House has not one foreign policy success to its credit and none in prospect. (The first term looks little better, for that matter.)
Egypt, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Mideast, Syria, China, and probably Iran in coming months: Nothing ad hominem here, but figuratively speaking, the failure-prone Kerry has crashed more helicopters in the desert than Jimmy Carter ever ordered airborne.
Success in Ukraine was never in the cards for this administration. But it slipped beyond all grasp late last week, when the provisionals ordered a military operation to quell dissent in the numerous eastern cities where pro–Russian sentiment tends to be strong. Touching and pathetic all at once, an account of the result is worth reading simply as a reality check.

There is no coming back when your soldiers and security forces not only refuse orders once in the east, but volunteer their ammunition, guns, tanks, artillery, and personnel carriers to the locals, saying they have no stomach for the mission. Readers may disagree, but I will never take the provisionals in Kiev as other than the opportunistic imposters I took them to be from the first. The first conclusion here: Kiev should get no money from anyone until a proper government is elected to office.
Next came the agreement Washington, the E.U., Moscow, and the provisionals negotiated in Geneva last Thursday. Instantly it appeared to make even less difference than the little it was first expected to.

Washington immediately complained that Russia refused to call off its operatives in the east, who are supposedly to blame for all the unrest. Three big problems here.

  • Russia's role is not completely clear, but when there are 40,000 Russian troops stationed around the Eastern perimeter of Ukraine, it gives insurgents a lot of confidence.
  • It stretches credibility to suggest that the residents of eastern Ukraine are empty-headed such that Moscow has them all playing the same music without any thought of their own.
  • Three, a firefight Sunday at a roadblock in the east almost certainly involved paramilitaries in support of the provisionals. Moscow asserted that they were from Right Sektor, the neo-fascists who rammed the provisionals into power three months back. It is a sad measure of Kiev's credibility, but in any detached judgment the Russians' account cannot be dismissed. If true, it took Kiev three days to breach the Geneva agreement.
Obama took an extraordinary step Saturday, and again there seems no turning back from it. As The New York Times reported, the president has just declared Cold War II, having concluded that there is no working with Putin even if a solution in Ukraine develops.

The project is to "ignore the master of the Kremlin, minimize the disruption Putin can cause," and "effectively make Russia a pariah state." All of this is advanced as position-of-strength imagery and strategy.
It can be read as such only by the gullible. Turn this around and Obama has just announced a pout that amounts to his surrender to a statesman who has boxed his ears in every round.
Apart from this, it is compounding error to bring back the confrontation at the Cold War's core. Just as wrong is NATO's new plan to push its presence as close to Russia's frontiers as it can.
Are we now watching the start of another generation of needless tension and division between Europe and its easterly neighbor? It is the obvious risk as of this past weekend, and it is already evident the economic costs will be formidable: wasteful military and security spending, redundant infrastructure in the hundreds of billions of dollars, opportunity costs that simply cannot be calculated.
Most immediately, Washington and the European allies ought to be reversing course and turning Ukraine into a field of cooperation with Russia by way of a commonly supported bailout devoid of geopolitical motivation. This kind of thinking is now antique idealism, of course—something to hang in a museum.
A decade and a half into a new century and the place of foreign policy has already shifted. A good one is essential to any nation's well-being in this new era. As things stand now, Ukraine is due to show us the damage a bad one can do.

Explosions, gunships rouse Slavyansk to barricades

Quote

Slavyansk (Ukraine) (AFP) - Loud detonations followed by the clatter of ground-skimming helicopter gunships heralded what the rebels controlling Slavyansk had been warning about for days: a frontal assault by the Ukrainian military. Armoured vehicles and scores of paratroopers quickly moved in, sweeping aside nine outlying insurgent roadblocks and taking up position just at the entry to the town.
But the pro-Russian rebels struck back with unexpected expertise, shooting down two of the Mi-24 helicopters and killing two servicemen on board.
Others set fire to tyres piled up at roadblocks to cloak their retreat, sending dark smoke spewing into the sky.
And, while Slavyansk's church rang its bells under a flapping Russian flag, locals of all ages rushed to build barricades on the streets.
Five trucks were parked across the road leading to the town hall, which is serving as the rebels' headquarters. Side streets were strewn with boarding, planks, branches and furniture.
"We are ready to block the way with our bodies if we need to," said one woman.
The rebels had also parked two armoured personnel carriers they captured last month close to the town hall.
As the morning faded, both sides consolidated their positions. No more clashes took place.
But a storm rolled in over the town -- thunder and dark clouds mimicking on a grander scale the human turmoil of hours earlier.
Slavyansk's self-appointed rebel mayor, Vyacheslav Ponomaryov, issued a video message on a local website, urging women and children to stay indoors, and for "all armed men to help" combat the assault.
"We will defend the town and we will win," said the mayor, dressed in camouflage uniform and wearing a bulletproof vest and helmet.
Another rebel leader, Anatoly Khmelevoy, told AFP that, "for now", there were no losses on the insurgents' side.
However, a spokeswoman for the rebels later told AFP at least one insurgent had been killed and that the number of dead and wounded was likely to rise.
The brief and rough abductions of three teams of Western journalists, working for CBS, Sky News and the online outlet Buzzfeed, were evidence of frayed nerves among the rebels.
Residents were also on edge. Some complained they could no longer find bread, as most shops and banks were shuttered Friday.
But much of the sentiment expressed was pro-Russian.
One local woman declared that, "after what they (the Ukrainian military) have done today, there is only one thing to do: join Russia".

Putin zabranio psovanje u Rusiji

Russia Quietly Tightens Reins on Web With 'Bloggers Law'

MOSCOW — Russia has taken another major step toward restricting its once freewheeling Internet, as President Vladimir V. Putin quietly signed a new law requiring popular online voices to register with the government, a measure that lawyers, Internet pioneers and political activists said Tuesday would give the government a much wider ability to track who said what online.

Mr. Putin's action on Monday, just weeks after he disparaged the Internet as "a special C.I.A. project," borrowed a page from the restrictive Internet playbooks of many governments around the world that have been steadily smothering online freedoms they once tolerated.

Putin's 'Human Rights Council' Accidentally Posts Real Crimean Election Results

QuoteAs you may recall, the official Crimean election results, as reported widely in the Western press, showed a 97 percent vote in favor of annexation with a turnout of 83 percent. No international observers were allowed. The pro-Russia election pressure would have raised the already weak vote in favor of annexation, of course.

Yesterday, however, according to a major Ukrainian news site, TSN.ua, the website of the President of Russia's Council on Civil Society and Human Rights (shortened to President's Human Rights Council) posted a report that was quickly taken down as if it were toxic radioactive waste. According to this purported report about the March referendum to annex Crimea, the turnout of Crimean voters was only 30 percent. And of these, only half voted for the referendum–meaning only 15 percent of Crimean citizens voted for annexation.
The TSN report does not link to a copy of the cited report. However, there is a report of the Human Rights Council, entitled "Problems of Crimean Residents," still up on the president-sovet.ru website, which discusses the Council's estimates of the results of the March 16 referendum. Quoting from that report: "In Crimea, according to various indicators, 50-60% voted for unification with Russia with a voter turnout (yavka) of 30-50%." This leads to a range of between 15 percent (50% x 30%) and 30 percent (60% x 50%) voting for annexation. The turnout in the Crimean district of Sevastopol, according to the Council, was higher: 50-80%.
The original version, in Russian, and a version clumsily translated by Google, are below:

To make sure no one misses this:
Official Kremlin results: 97 percent of polled voters for annexation, turnout 83 percent, and 82 percent of total Crimean population voting in favor.
President's Human Rights Council mid-point estimate: 55 percent of polled voters for annexation, turnout 40 percent, 22.5 percent of total Crimean population voting in favor.
A member of the Human Rights Council, Svetlana Gannushkina, talked about election fraud on Kanal 24 (as replayed on Ukrainian television), declaring that the Crimean vote "discredited Russia more than could be dreamed up by a foreign agent."
We can debate the extent of fraud in the March 16 referendum, but only the Council's highest estimate just yields the fifty percent turnout ratio normally required for major referendums. What counts is that the Putin regime solemnly announced to the world that 82 percent of the Crimean people voted to join Mother Russia, and many in the West swallowed this whopper. At best, according to Putin's own council, only 30 percent did.
Putin plans to repeat the Crimean election farce in the May 11 referendum on the status of the so-called People's Republic of Donetsk. He will use the same tricks to produce an overwhelming vote for "independence" and a high turnout. The few international election monitors will object, but Putin counts on repetition of his Big Lie to convince his own people and sympathetic politicians and press in the West that the people of east Ukraine actually want to separate from Ukraine.
Will the West let Putin get away with it again?
