Esoteric conference in Belgrade

Alef is very happy to announce the Belgrade Working 2016, an esoteric conference created with the intention to bring together most important scholars of our time. The first Belgrade Working will take place in Belgrade,Serbia, on the 12th and 13th of November, 2016.

We are proud to host J. Daniel Gunther and Shiva Xº, Australia O.T.O. National Grand Master, as our first speakers.

J. Daniel Gunther
Daniel Gunther is a teacher highly respected and revered by his students and peers alike. Considered one of the world's few genuine authorities on the doctrines of Thelema, his lectures and presentations have been hailed as dynamic revelations of Thelemic doctrine, while his engaging question and answer sessions demonstrate his collegial approach and sincere commitment to student learning.Mr Gunther has been an Aspirant to the A∴A∴ for over forty years. In his first book, "Initiation in the Aeon of the Child: The Inward Journey" (2009), he brought many of the teachings and instructions of the A∴A∴ to the public for the first time, and offered these transmitted doctrinal insights and revelations to a new audience. These teachings were further elaborated in his recent book "The Angel and the Abyss: The Inward Journey, Books II & III".Mr Gunther is a standing member on the Editorial Board of The Equinox.

Shiva XºShiva Xº, has been a member of the OTO for 28 years.  He has served as the Frater Superior's Representative for Australia since 1990, and as the OTO National Grand Master General of the Australian Grand Lodge since its founding in 2006. He is currently editing a new and authoritative edition of "Magick Without Tears" for OTO International Headquarters.  He works as an Educational Technologist and Learning Designer specializing in digital disruption and design thinking.

Lectures & Schedule

Lecture 1: The Order That Hath No Name Among Men (J.D. Gunther) – Saturday 10:00 AM

In this lecture, Gunther discusses the relationship between the Orders A∴A∴ and O.T.O., drawing on the concepts of the Path in Eternity, the Path of the Great Return and the Egyptian Pyramid Texts. He also explores the doctrine of the Holy Graal, into which the Saints have drained every last drop of their Blood in honor of Our Lady Babalon.

Lecture 2: The Parables of Liber LXV (J.D. Gunther) – Saturday 12:30 PM

Crowley described Liber LXV, "The Book of the Heart Girt with a Serpent", as "an account of the relations of the aspirant and his Holy Guardian Angel." Gunther discusses certain symbols and parables that occur throughout the book, including: (1) The Parable of the New Birth (the parable of Persephone), (2) The Parable of The Pale Image (the parable of the boat of shining steel), and (3) The Parable of the Hummingbird.

Lecture 3: Aspiring to the Holy Order, part 1 (Shiva Xº) – Saturday 15:30 PM

The Frater Superior described the O.T.O. as "a system of consciousness, above all else, that takes time to develop, and is best done degree by degree." Shiva Xº discusses this context, the attitude and posture with which we approach it, and its broader significance relating to us as individuals and the world we live in.

Lecture 4: New Aeonic Doctrines In The Light Of Jungian Psychology (J.D. Gunther) – Sunday 10:00 AM

The lecture "New Aeonic Doctrines In The Light Of The New Aeon" examines the parallels of the Jungian psychology with the Thelemic system of Magick and Mysticism. Clear definitions of Jungian terms will be included throughout for those unfamiliar with them, and the lecture is profusely illustrated by Power Point slides. Special attention is given to the concepts of the Personal Unconscious, Collective Unconscious and the Archetypes. The progression of the Aeons is likewise examined in a discussion of the discoveries made by Jungian analyst Erich Neumann.
