find adequate comparison to K.S.

This compilation focuses on a small and
select handful of Chithra and
Ilaiyaraajas developing collaborations
from the formative years of their
relationship between - 1986 and 1991- a
vibrant time where analog recording
techniques and digital technology first
overlapped and Chithra, as a developing
vocalist, adapted to the the sounds and
arrangements of a classic maverick
composer pushing the boundaries.

pa dobro, možda je on malo preterao, ali mi nije jasno kako na konferenciji koja propagira deljenje (informacija i znanja, između ostalog) neko predavanje možeš da slušaš samo ako si izdvojio nekoliko desetina evra (prošle godine) ili ako si deo nekog uskog kruga koji poseduje narukvicu (ove godine). pa na ozbiljnija predavanja na Univerzitetima može da uđe svako ko poželi, bilo da se radi o redovnim ili gostujućim predavanjima, dok god ima mesta, o ovi su se našli da pametuju.

background, it is something like this. I bought an Italian drawbar
organ module around two years ago. Apparently Italian organs from
that period had a bad reputation but I was so happy with it that
it appeared on most of the tracks I had been working on. I thought
I had an album together and was supposed to get it mastered on the
day after the mastering session for the Pinch and Shackleton
release on Honest Jons (sometime towards the end of Summer 2011).

I had also been working on a 12" of more spacious music to go with
that album as a limited vinyl 12". By the time that I finished the
music though, the tracks for that 12" became so long for that I
couldn't contain them to two sides of a vinyl. This is what became
Music For The Quiet Hour album. In the end we didn't get time to
finish the mastering on that day in late Summer 2011 and for one
reason or another the date got pushed back three months.

Then there was the artwork. There was a lot to do and that took a
long time to finish. On top of that I then moved house and studio.
To cut a long story short, these things stacked up to a six months
or so delay in the release. In the meantime I listened back to the
whole 2 hours plus of music a few times and it struck me that
Music For The Quiet Hour was an album (yes, a proper album) to be
listened to all the way through, whilst the drawbar organ tracks
were better suited to 12" releases. Hence the format you have in
front of you. A proposed 12" that actually turned out to be an
album and a proposed album that turned out to be a series of 12"s.

In short, there is some new music from me. It's generally bass
heavy and percussive with an involved narrative. Some people will
like it and some people won't. I think that it is quite different
to music I have released before, I suspect that other people won't.

Many thanks to musical contributors Andreas Gerth and Kingsuk
Biswas. Many thanks as well to Zeke who has done wonderful artwork
again and Vengeance Tenfold who has provided great vocals and also
the superb letter that proved to be a big inspiration for both the
artwork booklet and the music from Music For The Quiet Hour
(Part 4 is based on a letter he wrote to his granddaughter who
lives in the year 2065). Many thanks to all the people who have
supported over the years.

ÛÛÛÛ            made Kenny Larkin stand out early on. It's                ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            when "Crystal Caverns 1991" starts up that we             ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            reach the most blatant distillation of                    ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            old-skool; kicking off a breakstep beat with              ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            sweet but punchy 90s synths, the track cuts               ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            into a deadly rave motif without so much as a             ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            pause in the beat and it's like being back in,            ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            er, 1991.                                                 ÛÛÛÛ

ÛÛÛÛ            "Cthulu" takes its lead from early jungle,                ÛÛÛÛ

ÛÛÛÛ            something utterly darkside. Here though, the              ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            innocence remains and the beat strolls in                 ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            lazily in a half-step fashion. By the midway              ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            point, the gentle guitar lines sound like                 ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            something Bukem would plump for. It's not all             ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            instantly identifiable heritage though, as the            ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            head-twisting "Earth's Lungs" testifies with a            ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            snapping, staggered beat, voluminous square               ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            wave bass and plenty more besides. Really, the            ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            reference points in Cutler's music are just               ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            that; warming, comforting reminders of some of            ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            the great ideas that inform modern electronic             ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            music, but it's what he does with them that               ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            counts.                                                   ÛÛÛÛ

ÛÛÛÛ            On the basis of this review, it could be easy             ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            to write off an album like this as derivative,            ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            but no-one can listen to the music itself and             ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            call it an imposter. Every track reeks of                 ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            originality, whether it be the surprising                 ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            track structures, the superbly detailed                   ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            production, even the evocative imagery that               ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            the music conjures up. If you ever needed an              ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            album that felt like wide-eyed, innocent joy,             ÛÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛÛ            this would be an excellent place to start.

Tenacious D  Rize Of The Fenix



Rize of the Fenix is the third album from Tenacious D and is the follow-up to 2006's gold The Pick of Destiny and 2001's platinum debut album Tenacious D.

Produced by the brilliant John Kimbrough, Rize Of The Fenix was recorded in the garage behind his LA home and features Jack Black and Kyle Gass (Tenacious D's core duo), performing with Dave Grohl (drums), John Spiker (bass, piano, organ) and John Konesky (electric guitar). The album was engineered and mixed by John Spiker who has been touring with the band for years.

From their concentrated effort emerged thirteen profoundly evocative tracks, the making of which the band describes as a "journey similar to that of Gandolph in The Lord of the Rings". When the ill received Pick of Destiny movie failed to strike box office gold, it virtually stripped away the duos rock god stature overnight. "There we no more bouncers waving us through the velvet ropes, we were persona non gratta" said singer Jack Black. Kyle Gass added, "There we were- just like Gandolph the grey, down in the muck- but we never gave up, We defeated our own personal demons and began chipping away, slowly climbing back to the land of the living- when we emerged we were no longer the old Tenacious D, we were Gandolph the white, with new powers and wisdom and bravery and skills".

Rize of the Fenix was recorded over the past six years as Tenacious D went back to their roots. "We recorded down and dirty in a friend's garage with a shoestring budget of 600 dollars, much like Nirvana's first album "Bleach"-or the Beatles first album "Help". Rough and yet a masterpiece."

This album is pressed on 180 gram vinyl and includes a CD and bonus 12 x24 poster.

Baš mi se, kako sam već pomenuo na drugom topiku, dopao novi (drugi) album dvojca Lazer Sword koji je manje hip hop a više, hmmm, tehno nego prvi. Ima ovde svega, od diska preko elektra do tek hausa, a u teoriji meni ne bi trebalo da se dopada preterano jer je prilično glam (ima, eh, ženskih vokala tu i tamo). Ali kad je tako dobra ploča. Mislim, JAKO je fanki, ima sjajan gruv i mnogo interesantnih avangardnih elemenata koji ne remete njegovu plesnost, a opet nije neki surovi, abrazivni tekkkno kakav ja volim (poput recimo Cristiana Vogela...) nego ima mnogo topline. Može se uporediti po dubini sa stvarima koje su nedavno ovde prejzovane (novi Šeklton i Actress) a ja ću se usuditi da ga uporedim i sa Autechre, kada bi Autechre danas bili mnogo opušteniji i zabavniji.
