Music mode, there's easily enough fuzz
and breaks to put a ruddy big grin on
your gob, but if not, you should expect
the choicest samples juiced from vintage
wax finds and reconstituted with added
FX flavour. The dubbed-out vocals on the
raw Latino funk of the 2nd cut are
outrageously good fun; as is the slow,
Turkish-sounding ace; and that wailing,
synth-blurting hairy-back rocker on the
B-side. We haven't a clue what any of
the source material is but it's reliably
ace, we tell ya.

Greek electronic music has been a much checked
         underground sound since the late 70s. 'Into The
         Light' roams over a wide radius of the output from
         this scene - merging synth pop and disco with
         ambient and new age. Limited to 600 copies.

         From female electronic innovator Lena Platonos, to
         multi-instrumentalist akis Daoutis and (renowned
         composer Mikis Theodorakis's son) George
         Theodorakis, the compilation serves as a journey
         from late 70s to the early 90s of Greek electronic
         obscurities. Rarities include a Mihalis Rakintzis'
         track from his early composing era, Stavros
         Logaridis' sublime synth-prog instrumental 'Snif
         Snif', and Costas Charitodiplomenos' dub version of
         italo-disco 'What You Gonna Do' as 141 G.

         "...If like me, you've coveted the hen's teeth rare
         akis LP, you'll be pleased to know two of the tracks
         are now available on this truly stunning
         compilation. Don't expect to be familiar with too
         many of the artists but instead revel in the

Bogota's Meridian Brothers release their
delightfully surreal and playful album
'Deseperanza' on 24th September on
Soundway Records. Traditional
instruments, electronics and distorted
vocals are dragged through an array of
influences to create a world that is as
original as it is unclassifiable.

Straddling the line between new and old,
Meridian Brothers' mischievous blend of
Latin rhythms and psychedelic grooves is
the creation of Eblis Álvarez, one of
the key figures of the experimental
music scene in Bogota, where his
contemporaries label him a genius. As
with all of the Meridian Brother's
releases, every instrument on
'Deseperanza' was played and recorded by
Eblis himself.

A true avant-garde guitar player and
composer he also plays in Mario
Galeano's band Frente Cumbiero and was
one of the 42 musicians involved in the
recording of Ondatrópica, released this
summer through Soundway Records.

'Desesperanza' (meaning hopelessness in
English) was recorded in 2012 and is
dedicated exclusively to salsa and
tropical music, twisting it through a
dark and theatrical soundscape but never
abandoning the traditional aesthetics.

In the heady blue haze of 2007 a meeting of minds took place. Portishead curated ATP's Nightmare Before Christmas that year and amongst the artists they selected were the irrepressible Japanese band Boris, and Bristol singer-songwriter Joe Volk. From seeing each other play that weekend, a friendship formed that lay the foundations for this Boris/Joe Volk release. A year after ATP, Joe was asked to support Boris at their headline show in London and by 2011 the split-release project was fully underway.

Now, 5 years to the day of their first encounter, Invada are proud to present this collaboration.

Boris are well known for spanning multiple genres of music throughout their 20 year history. Supremely heavy, always unexpected. Their presence on stage is something to be witnessed. They have been classified as space rock, outsider metal, avant rock and many more, all giving a nod to the other-worldliness of the sound they create.

It seems fitting then that for this album, Boris have produced 'Cosmos', a record in three parts that traverses a landscape of cymbal washes and fuzzed glitches in Part 1, to the relentlessly volcanic jagged grooves of Part 2, before descending underwater spirals through Part 3. This journey leads beautifully to the door of their bedfellow Joe Volk.

Joe was the original singer in Gonga and Crippled Black Phoenix and released his debut solo album on Invada. His two songs on this album, 'Call to Sun' and 'Finland', are stories in technically sublime acoustics, strings and vocals, but as you would expect from an Invada artist all is not as it seems. His use of silence and hypnotic rhythms mark this out as something entirely different.

This split album is a juxtaposition of styles from the same mindset. One story told two ways.

Madteo-Noi_No-(Sahko_027)-LP-2012-DPS

Having made a name for himself with 12"s on Joy O and WIll
     Bankhead's Hinge Finger, Morphine, Workshop and Sex Tags offshoot
     Wania, Madteo serves up his debut album on non-more-iconic Finnish
     imprint Sahko. With a deep love of hip-hop, boogie and beatdown
     running through his veins, the NYC-based Italian has never been a
     conventional house producer, and sure enough, he's made a
     thoroughly unconventional album. But Noi No doesn't jump from one
     style to another so much as suavely weave a path between styles,
     creating its own eccentric sonic language the process; what's
     more, it's brilliantly cold and dissolute, as if Madteo has really
     absorbed the rarified Scandinavian chill of his new label. 'Dead
     Drop (When I Saw You That Night)' takes the crunchy, crespucular
     deep house sound of Workshop further into sexually ambiguous
     abstraction, a laconic, barely intelligible male vocal slithering
     in and around pinched chords and quietly zinging acid lines. 'Gory
     Glory', 'Bugged In Gaza' and 'Vitruvian Nightmare' are unheimlich,
     atmospheric instrumental sketches that wouldn't sound out of place
     on the better sort of early 80s industrial/post-punk tape
     compilation, while the glottal manipulations of 'Vox Your Nu Yr
     Resolution' come over like a more streetwise response to Ann-James
     Chaton fractured poetry for Raster-Noton. 'Rugrats Don't Techno
     For An Answer' out-Actresses Actress, with the addition of some
     perfectly judged R&B vocal pressure; the trippy, light-refracting
     4/4 chug of of 'Tanti, Maledetti e Sempre' nods to
     Newworldaquarium and DJ Sprinkles; and on exemplary closer 'Change
     We Could But Didn't', the ghost of a smoked-out New York MC is
     obscured by project-shaking sub-bass quakes and fiendishly edited
     noir-jazz hi-hat patterns. Immaculately produced, effortlessly
     shape-shifting, questingly experimental but completely in charge
     of its groove, this is really a fine record - hats off to Madteo.

A balaclaved DJ Stingray stares at you from the

           on 'F.T.N.W.O.' (F*ck The New World Order?) primes
           the listener for fight or flight. Stick around and
           you're in for a proper taste of Detroit Electro.
           Sherard Ingram ain't f**king around here. His
           follow-up to UTTU's 'Imping Is Easy' takes a harder,
           darker tack, setting the scene with paranoid vocal
           samples before launching a stream of highly
           efficient, uptempo dancefloor strikes, that urgent,
           adrenalizing sound he's capitalised over the last 15
           years; body-bouncing bass, bone-splintering 15mm
           snare strikes and lacerating electro synths synched
           to exacting, urban-militant standards. Practically
           worth it for the solo techno mission 'Remote Viewing'
           alone, but fans of that darker Drexciyan sound will
           NOT be disappointed elsewhere.

da, Stingreja kupih još prošle godine. fura svoj fazon, što bi rekli mladi. u najavi je album na kojem je radio sa preživelom polovinom Drexciya-e (takođe za WeMe), sudeću po ploči koju su izbacili u prethodnoj godini to bi trebalo da bude vrlo zanimljivo.

što se Madtea tiče, bilo mi je čudno što je Sahko izdao ovo, ali je album prilično dobar. lomio sam se da li da kupim ploču ili ne, i posle celovitog slušanja mislim da sam bliže odluci da sebe počastim vinilom.

Legowelt je takođe dobar, čini se da može da isporuči dobar album po komandi.

Marko Tearpalm je bio i ostao kralj, čast mi je što sam jednom delio galeriju za nastupe sa njim, iako je tu bio više kao posmatrač i distributer, nego kao neko ko  i sam  nastupa. Ipak, Third I i Figurative Theatre su razbili! Cold, harsh noise! Dadawave!

              Cave is a Belgian producer whose
              records put a shoegaze spin on hip-hop
              and slo-mo house. This makes him a
              perfect fit for Ramp Recordings, the
              London label that's home to artists
              like Dro Carey and FaltyDL. Boulanger
              will make his Ramp debut with Retina
              Waves, following releases on smaller
              labels like Vlek and Brussels' Thin
              Consolation. The album shows his sound
              continuing to develop, mostly leaving
              behind the syncopated rhythms of his
              past records for something more washed
              out and 4/4 based.
