  The icing on the cake je to da se radi o adaptaciji nekog dela Richarda Mathesona, mada za sad još nisu otkriveni detalji.

The duo are currently drafting a script entitled "The Box." I'm not all that familiar with Matheson so if this title rings a bell, please let me know. Roth is going to helm the project with hopes to make it as eerie as "Polanski and Nakata." Strapped with full creative control and funded independently, the two hope to deliver something incredibly fucked up and violent...as long as it can garner an R-rating.

Koji bre maj, koji jebeni Kan – KOJE GODINE? I s kojim parama?

Taj THE BOX koliko znam nije ni počeo da se snima, a sve i da bude one-take-movie (Sokurov-style), ipak bre tu treba i neka postprodukcija, obrada, s tom pričom trebaju im i efekti – sve i da su ta imena pristala da im igraju džabe, za 5.000 $ ne može ništa da se napravi...

A sad, po ovome, film će kao biti gotov za 3 nedelje?

rekao bih da se info za budzet i glumce odnosi na istoimeni film petera bauera, a cisto sumnjam da je ovo summary za kellyev/rothov projekt. imdb je pre nekih mesec dana vec jednom napravio totalnu pometnju izmedju ova dva filma... evo i linkova, pa mozda neko ukapira bolje od mene, posto su informacije sasvim konfuzne i kontradiktorne:

što se Ruske arke tiče i 90 minuta jednog kadra mogu reći:

Dobro, iz ostalih Sandman-provided linkova jasno je da su tamo neki napravili zbrku između 2 različita filma, a Incubus to nekritički prepisao i načas nas naveo da pomislimo kako su Kelly i Roth TOLIKI genijalci da su u stanju za mesec dana da naprave genijalni horor koji obećavaju.
Ipak nisu.
Na THE BOX o kome govorimo na ovom topiku čekaćemo bar godinicu dana... Ni scenario još nije gotov.  

Što se RUSKE BARKE tiče – ko kaže da ne smeš da treneš: možeš i da odremaš malo, ionako nećeš ništa propustiti.
Logistička (formalna) komplexnost ne može da nadoknadi / zameni idejnu konfuznost i suštinsku ispraznost.

ma jok, rekoh da ti ne znas. kelly spominjao jos 2001 mogucnost da to izadje na DVD-ju.

btw, neko je skoro kuko ovde (ne mogu da se setim na kom topicu) za eraserhead DVX. pushten je nedavno na DVD, bice valjda i kod nas uskoro...

Imam ERASERHEAD na divxu, nisam znao da je to neki raritet.

Ali ono što jeste, ultramegagiga-raritet, i što do skora niko ovde nije imao, jesu KRATKI FILMOVI DAVIDA LYNCHA.
To su takve neopevane sumanutosti iz njegove rane, neobuzdano ludačke faze, da mi bale već cure na usta.

I remember around a year ago, reading about this great premise for a film about a guy who unearths a time capsule that was buried in the 1950s that contains children's drawings depicting what they thought the future would be like. One child's drawings in particular predicted several horrible events that have already come true; however, one of those events has not yet occurred, and the man sets out to prevent it from happening. That is one of the coolest ideas I've heard for a film in a long time! Even cooler is the fact that it was announced today that Fox Searchlight has acquired the Escape Artists production in turnaround from Columbia Pictures (crazy bastards) for Richard Kelly to direct. For those who can't quite place the name, Richard Kelly is the brilliant mind behind DONNIE DARKO, which is one of my favorite films in recent years. Kelly has apparently been attached to the project for over a year now, but I don't recall hearing his name associated with it before now.

In some related news (aka more coolness), Richard Kelly and Darren Aronofsky (a lot of news about both of them today, weird) have teamed up with Leonardo DiCaprio's production company, Appian Way, to adapt Kurt Vonnegut's classic novel CAT'S CRADLE for the big screen. Kelly is slated to pen the script and Aronofsky is looking to direct, likely upon completion of his recently announced adaptation of the LONE WOLF & CUB graphic novel. CAT'S CRADLE is an apocalyptic satire about a group of people in pursuit of Ice-9, a substance that can freeze water at room temperature and in large amounts could cause an ice age.

Creature Corner spoke to "Cabin Fever" director Eli Roth today about his upcoming project with Richard Kelly ("Donnie Darko") entitled "The Box." Since AICN's report that the film was going to be an adaptation of a Richard Matheson story and the Corner's announcement of the film's title, we've been curious as to which story, exactly, these boys were bringing to the big screen in a "dark and violent" approach.

One Corner reader sent us a Matheson bibliography offering his thoughts. His hypothesis: "What Was in the Box" aka "Big Surprise" which was translated into a 1971 "Night Gallery" episode. Good call, fellow ghoul, but when we asked Roth himself about his upcoming film's origins...

...he would not throw us a bone.

"I'm loving this idea of everyone trying to figure what story it is!" Roth tells us. He also revealed that it was Kelly who brought the story to Roth's attention. From there the two macabre minds began to formulate a film that promises to screw us up.

So until the boys reveal the story...we're all going to have to keep on guessing.

Fangoria spoke to Roth as well. Turns out, he's developing a feature-length adaptation of Stephen King's short story "1408" from the "Everything's Eventual" anthology released in early 2002. That downright eerie tale concerns a haunted hotel room that pushes an investigator to brink of sanity. Roth intends to write and direct that project with Lorenzo DiBonaventura producing.
