Evo jedne vesti za superhero fanove, ali ne znam bas koliko je dobra...



After a series of directors couldn't get a film adaptation of GHOST RIDER before cameras, the man who finally got DAREDEVIL going has signed on to bring the film to life. Mark Steven Johnson will direct GHOST RIDER for Sony/Columbia based on the script by Shane Salerno (SHAFT) and David Goyer (BLADE). Goyer and his BLADE cohort Stephen Norrington were both, at one time, slated to direct RIDER, but both moved on to other projects as the film languished in development. Through all this Nicolas Cage remains attached to star in the film as Johnny Blaze, the motorcycle stuntman turned demonic vigilante. The project is expected to begin filming by year's end with a 2004 release date planned.

Snima se cetvrti deo Vrane pod nazivom The Crow: Wicked Prayer, i to samo po sebi ne bi zvucalo mnogo bitno imajuci u vidu sasvim osrednje nastavke, da reditelj nije Lance Mungia (za neupucene, ako takvih ima, covek odgovoran za genijalni Six String Samurai)!

Mozda od ovoga nesto i ispadne.


"Wicked Prayer," follows Luc Crash, the charismatic gang leader of a ragtag band of Satanist bikers named after the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse. Luc murders Jimmy Cuervo (Furlong) and his girlfriend Lily as part of a ritual to become an immortal demon, but Luc finds that Jimmy has been transformed into the avenging spirit known at The Crow, intent on stopping Luc before he can become the Lord of the Flies.

Iskreno, ja cu cetvrtu Vranu gledati samo zbog reditelja Lance Mungie.  

Inace, ta kopilad iz Dimensiona su namerila da ubiju svaki kreativni potencijal u Hellraiser serijalu, pa sada isto rade i u Vrani (pogledajte samo poslednja dva Hellraisera, kvazi-film-noir-horori koji non-stop plagiraju Angel Heart i vise na granici gledljivosti, pri cemu je Pinhead sveden na nivo cameo pojavljivanja Alfreda Hitchcocka u svojim filmovima). Kada je Rob Zombie hteo da malo prodrma stvari u Vrana serijalu, fucking Weinsteini su mu 'zahvalili na saradnji' i dobili smo Crow - Salvation ili umiveni direct-to-video-whodunit-krimi-horor, uzasno predvidljiv i zastareo.

Crow - City of Angels je sa druge strane obicno lartpurartisticko izdrkavanje, ali ga ipak rado gledam zbog zanosne Mie Kirshner, a i film je lepo slikan.

Dakle, ako Lance Mungia ostane u igri, mozda nesto i ispadne, otherwise...

Nekoliko zanimljivosti u vezi sa prequelom za Ginger Snaps:


Production has begun on GINGER SNAPS—THE PREQUEL—rolling, like the recently wrapped sequel, on locations in and around Edmonton, Canada. Directed by Grant Harvey (the original SNAPS' 2nd-unit director) from a screenplay by Stephen Massicotte and Christina Ray, the film once again stars Katharine Isabelle and Emily Perkins, this time as 1815 incarnations of Ginger and Brigitte Fitzgerald. After traveling through a bleak wilderness, the sisters take shelter at a remote trading post, only to become caught up in the struggle between its inhabitants and ferocious beasts that are besieging them. The cast also includes Tom (THE SWEET HEREAFTER) McCamus, Brendan (FREDDY VS. JASON) Fletcher, Tim La Haye, Nathaniel (TV's THE LONE RANGER) Arcand, JR (13 GHOSTS) Bourne and Hugh Dillon. Lions Gate will handle the U.S. and foreign distribution for both the SNAPS follow-ups.

We got special news on the next Takashi Miike project! This time Miike is back in the horror genre. The movie will feature actor Shinichi Tsutsumi (the leading actor in many Sabu's movies). The plot of the film deals with a school girl who tries to unravel the mystery behind her friend's sudden death. Apparently, she just died after listening to a message left on her cell phone.
The movie was filmed in an abandoned hospital in Japan. Ironically, the hospital was apparently haunted and the cast and crew reported strange happenings during shoots. Some of them claim that someone was tugging on the back of their shirts, but when they turned around to see who it was... no one was there.
Miike promises that this movie will be his most horrifying, ever. He's orchestrated a plethora of ideas to scare the shit out of the audience. Sadly, he also announced that this will be his last horror movie. No English title is available for now, but the film opens in Japanese theatres on January 2004.

Stuart Gordon snima novi film...  


After he completes postproduction on his hitman thriller KING OF THE ANTS, director Stuart (DAGON) Gordon will next helm LADIES' NIGHT, which he has adapted from Jack (OFF SEASON) Ketchum's acclaimed 2000 novel.

"LADIES' NIGHT is the most horrific script I've ever worked on," Gordon tells Fango. "The story takes place in New York City, where a tanker truck crashes and spills a toxic chemical that only affects women. At first, the women become sexually aroused, and then they become incredibly violent and attack and kill all the men. Like the novel, the movie will unfold in a 24-hour period. I'm shopping the project around now, and hope to shoot LADIES' NIGHT in New York later this year."

sajt ti nije los, bacam pogled na njega vec nedelju dana. jedina bitna zamerka jeste sto nisi kategorisao vesti po odredjenim kriterijumima po kojim se dodatno mogu pretraziti iz baze, naprimer vesti vezane za sf, horor, filmove, serije, knjige, odredjene rezisere, odredjene pisce, odredjene manifestacije (dodele nagrada, festivale) i sl...

i da se, ako je moguce, ne fokusiras samo na fangoriju...

Pa, donekle su kategorizovane, tu su sf/fantasy/horror/sci/editorial stvari svaka posebno... razmatrao sam i da razbijem dalje i detaljnije, ali u ovom trenutku jos smatram da nema potrebe.

Pretrazivanje mi ceka na kucnom hardu zgodan trenutak za upload, zajedno sa podrskom za clanke, review-ove, manjim apgrejdom foruma, i tako to... jedino sto mi treba neki materijal (pomenuti clanci, review-ovi i tako to ) da ne podignem prazan prostor.

A nisam iskljucivo vezan za Fangoriju, mada je po pitanju horror-a, i to prvenstveno filmova, jedan od najazurnijih sajtova. Pored njega redovno obilazim SCIFI Wire, Slashdot (naravno ) i jos gomilu manjih, anonimnijih sajtova... recimo oko 10 linkova svakodnevno...

Inace... sve se nadam negde naci neku zanimljivu vest o fantastici kod nas... pa tako lutam i po domacim sajtovima... ali slabo ima...

Evo jedne djavolski dobre vesti!  

Director Brad Anderson's horror follow-up to the brilliant SESSION 9 got a pair of strong actresses aboard in the form of Jennifer Jason (THE HITCHER) Leigh and Spanish actress Aitana (A WALK IN THE CLOUDS) Sanchez-Gijon, reports Variety. THE MACHINIST, starring Christian Bale, tells the story of an "insomniac lathe operator" who begins to sees a ghostly figure wandering through the rafters of the factory he works in. Spain-based horror powerhouse Filmax is making the movie, which will start shooting this month in Barcelona.

The writer/director signed a two picture deal with Disney that will begin this October as filming begins on THE WOODS, starring Kirsten Dunst, Joaquin Phoenix and...Ashton Kutcher?

No that's not a type-o. I did actually say Ashton Kutcher would be starring in a M. Night Shyamalan movie. Even Variety commented on how surprising that news was but Shyamalan defended his star saying, "I had a gut feeling about using him in a serious role, much the way I did with Donnie Wahlberg in THE SIXTH SENSE." With Dunst and Phoenix, Shyamalan says he wrote both of those parts with the actor specifically in mind.

WOODS, which Shyamalan says will be "more romantic" than his previous thrillers, is a period piece set in 1897 that will follow a community threatened by a mythical race of creatures who reside in - natch - the woods. Shyamalan turned in the script on Mother's Day and Disney execs liked it so much, they greenlit the film minutes after the first reading. Dunst is expected to be the film's lead and it's unclear how large of a role Kutcher's will be.

The second film in Shyamalan's deal with Disney has been determined but neither side is talking. A script hasn't been completed by a story outline has been sketched. While Shyamalan has his deal at Disney, it does not preclude him from taking another gig at another studio in the meanwhile. The writer/director said it was possible that he could do a movie between WOODS and his 2nd Disney film if another studio offered him "an irresistible book adaptation."

      ELI ROTH EXPOSES A RAW NERVE    

GreeneStreet Films has announced the launch of a new horror film company called RAW NERVE, whose mission will be to release three to five low-budget, hardcore, horror films per year. With horror author David Schow (THE CROW), writer Scott Spiegel (EVIL DEAD 2), director Boaz Yakin (REMEMBER THE TITANS) and Eli Roth (CABIN FEVER) at the helm, the team promises to deliver a series of serious, no-holds barred, moderately-budgeted genre films. Lead by Yakin, the principals will write and direct some of the projects themselves, while focusing on developing emerging talent.
"We need more TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRES in this world," Roth told Rue Morgue.       "With Raw Nerve, we wanted to create an environment where young emerging filmmakers could get their break and veteran directors could explore their darkest sides without studio interference."  
Following the success of Roth's CABIN FEVER (which has since tripled its investor's money back), the company plans to experiment creatively outside the studio system while delivering the kind of serious horror films fans want to see.
"By keeping our budgets low and our standards high, we can produce movies that are frightening, fun and extremely profitable," Yakin remarks. This is an auspicious day for the horror community and promising news for emerging filmmakers who desire to return to the essentials of filmmaking.
"I vowed long ago that I would do everything I could to help bring back old-school, indie, Hard-R, ultra-violent horror," Roth adds. "Now I finally have a chance to live that dream - or nightmare, depending on how you look at it."

Evo lepih vesti. Naomi Watts treba da glumi u novom horor-triler po imenu Stay, a Brothers Grimm ce izgleda ipak da se snima od 30 juna u Pragu.


Variety reports that two major genre projects are rounding out their casts. Naomi Watts follows up THE RING by taking the female lead in STAY, the supernatural thriller directed by Marc (MONSTERS BALL) Forster also starring Ewan McGregor, for New Regency, which has scheduled a September start. Meanwhile, Dimension's BROTHERS GRIMM epic, directed by Terry Gilliam from a script by RING's Ehren Kruger, has added Lena (GOSSIP) Headey, Peter (BRUISER) Stormare and Jonathan Pryce to its ensemble; Pryce and Robin Williams had previously been said to be in talks to play villains, but Williams' participation has not been confirmed. The movie rolls June 30 in and around Prague.

John Waters snima novi film!


The king of bad taste (and I mean that in the best possible way) is lubed and ready to slide behind the cameras again. Yup, the sultan of smut-disguised-as-entertainment, John Waters, of PINK FLAMINGOS, CRY BABY and PECKER fame, has announced that he will team with This is That and Killer Films for his follow-up to CECIL B. DEMENTED, a little ditty called A DIRTY SHAME. Waters has already lined up a funky sounding cast that includes Johnny Knoxville, Selma Blair (has she made a film to date that hasn't been sexual charged?) & Paul Giamatti and he has his eye on a top (not to mention well respected) leading lady to play the lead role of a convenience store owner who becomes addicted to sex after suffering a concussion. "I wish Meryl Streep would do it but I don't think she would. It has to be somebody real, who looks like they could belong in a convenience store, and in Hollywood these days, women in their forties who look real are hard to find." Water told Variety.

Ben Ramsey`s back!

Columbia Pictures picked up the rights to Marvel's comic book property LUKE CAGE for Original Films to produce and Ben Ramsey (THE BIG HIT) to adapt. The story is about a former gang member who is framed for a crime. In prison, he volunteers for a medical experiment that goes awry, giving him superstrength and bulletproof skin. He escapes and becomes a hero for hire.

FilmJerk has broken the story on the upcoming ALIENS VS. PREDATOR franchise-restarter from Fox to be shot this fall in Prague by Paul (RESIDENT EVIL) W.S. Anderson. Apparently, the film takes place in Antarctica where humans hoping to bring Predator hunters back to Earth set up "alien" eggs. Unfortunately for the humans (and, well, mankind), the aliens and predators get in a war and they're caught in the middle.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the busy Larry Cohen, whose CELLULAR script goes into production soon at New Line with David R. (FINAL DESTINATION 2) Ellis directing and Ashton Kutcher starring, has yet another thriller screenplay set up at Urban Entertainment: CAPTIVITY, about two strangers who are kidnapped and manipulated by an unseen sociopath. Music video vet Hype Williams (who's also developing the 3-D zombie opus THRILLA at Disney) will direct, with Fox Searchlight set to release.

David Guion and Michael Handelman will rewrite the DreamWorks pic USED GUYS for Jay Roach to direct, with Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn starring. Set in a world where women run the Earth, the story centers on two guys who are rendered obsolete by a new clone and go on the run hoping to regain manhood by reaching a guy heaven known as "Mantopia."

Chi McBride will star opposte Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones in TERMINAL for director Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks Pictures. Shooting is scheduled to start in September in Los Angeles. The film will center on a Balkan immigrant in the U.S. who makes an airport transit lounge his home after he learns that the borders of his war-torn nation have been blurred, voiding his passport and leaving him without a country. Making friends among the airport employees, including a baggage handler, he falls in love with a flight attendant, which prompts his escape a year later. Sacha Gervasi and Jeff Nathanson scripted.

Paramount has stepped away from a May opening for MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3, which is now expected to begin shooting in January and would likely open during the 2004 holiday season or in May 2005. Joe Carnahan (NARC) will direct.

CABIN FEVER's Eli Roth is a busy boy these days; according to The Hollywood Reporter, he's just been attached to yet another horror project, DRAWN. Lions Gate, which releases FEVER September 12, will back the project, scripted by Rand (THE ASTRONAUT'S WIFE) Ravich. The story involves an artist whose obsession with success leads him to unleash evil forces, and Roth described Ravich's screenplay to the trade as "the scariest and [most] fucked-up script I've ever read." No start date has been announced for the movie, which will be budgeted at around $10-12 million.

Tobe Hooper snima novi film.  

Creature Corner is reporting today that Tobe Hooper's THE TOOLBOX MURDERS remake (which is allegedly not a very faithful retread, which is a good thing) has assembled its entire cast, which includes the previously announced Angela (MAY) Bettis, Juliet (Drusilla on BUFFY/ANGEL) Landau, Greg (NIGHT CREEP) Travis, Sheri (HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES) Moon, Rance (CHILDREN OF THE CORN III) Howard and Brent (upcoming TREMORS 4) Roam. The film starts shooting today in Los Angeles and concerns a series of murders in an old Hollywood apartment building.

At least one director has ruled himself out of directing the forthcoming live-action adaptation of "The Transformers". Michael Bay. According to IGN FilmForce, Bay's plate is too busy, with the site hinting he might still be attached to do "Superman" instead. So who's going to tackle Optimus Prime and company? According to the sites sources, Robert Zemeckis, and Joseph Kahn are still keen. In addition, the studio's also made plans to talk to another big name director about the project.

Brett Leonard is directing the horror feature MAN THING, based on the Marvel comic, for Serenity Cove Studios.

Neil Marshall (DOG SOLDIERS) is set to direct the horror pic THE DARK from his own script for Celador Films. It's about an all-female caving expedition that goes horribly wrong. Production begins in the spring. Celador Films (DIRTY PRETTY THINGS) also has optioned two nonfiction books: Anthony Holden's BIG DEAL, about the writer's year as a pro poker player, and Victoria Coren and Charlie Skelton's ONCE MORE WITH FEELING, about two nice middle-class youngsters who set out to make a superior porno movie.

Vincenzo Natali will direct NECROPOLIS, written by Paul W.S. Anderson (RESIDENT EVIL), for Dimension Films and Impact Pictures.

* Joss Whedon will write/direct FIREFLY, a feature film based on his short-lived Fox TV series for Universal Pictures. Production is expected to begin in first-quarter 2004. The action/adventure series was set 500 years in the future and centered on a crew aboard a spaceship. Whedon hopes to bring back the entire cast with new characters added as well.

BURBANK, CA, 11 September 2003 - Christian Bale has been cast in the starring role of Bruce Wayne in Warner Bros. Pictures' upcoming Batman movie, to be directed by Christopher Nolan and produced by Emma Thomas. The announcement was made today by Jeff Robinov, President of production for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Principal photography on the film is expected to begin in early 2004. The movie is written by David Goyer and Nolan, and will follow the early career of The Dark Knight.

Said Nolan, "What I see in Christian is the ultimate embodiment of Bruce Wayne. He has exactly the balance of darkness and light that we were looking for."

They're now taking pitches on reduxes of 13 titles by the Italian master: the fright films BARON BLOOD, BLACK SABBATH, BLACK SUNDAY, FIVE DOLLS FOR AN AUGUST MOON, HOUSE OF EXORCISM, KIDNAPPED (the restored version of which has been playing art-house dates over the past year), KILL BABY KILL, LISA AND THE DEVIL (say, isn't that the same movie as HOUSE OF EXORCISM?), THE GIRL WHO KNEW TOO MUCH (a.k.a. Dark Castle Entertainment has tapped Danny Kuchuck and John Weiner to script a redo of the William Castle horror film I SAW WHAT YOU DID. The original film told the story of two teenagers who make a series of prank phone calls to strangers, whispering 'I saw what you did, and I know who you are.' In the film, the fun stops when they randomly ring a man who has just murdered his wife.

The Ghouls is about a man who sees the world through the eyes of a camera, trying to capture police chases and bad accidents on video so he can sell them to the evening news. When he thinks he's about to get a nasty tape of some bums raping a woman, he instead gets a first hand look at what ghouls really are, flesh eating monstrosities the are prowling the streets. Unfortunately he has no tape to prove it, so he's out to redeem himself by trying to stop these beasts.

Written and directed by Chad (The Unspeakable) Ferrin, The Ghouls will make it's*** premiere in L.A. on November 6th at 7:30pm. Ferrin and some other cast members will be on hand after the screening for a Q&A, so if you're going make plans to stick around. I just hope it turns out as nasty as it sounds.
