When the new album by Andrei Machado, Étant, starts playing, the sentiment you get is anxiety. Different from his previous work Lacuna, these first moments are notably crafted, causing a palpable sensation that only a sensitive artist could achieve. One can notice, with caress, that Andrei is back, inviting us to walk the new path he found through his music. The melodies from this singular world are contemplative, explored by Andrei's uncommon minimalism, passing messages that beautiful words could not translate. And here lies the reflection caused by Étant, and its french translation - Existence - could not be more appropriate: is his own terms, Andrei Machado gives voice to the human anguish of Being. Be it experimenting, as in "Ecce Homo" and "O Limiar da Eternidade", or causing a recurring déjà-vu in "O Cemitério dos Deuses Mortos", or even firming a touching accent as in "E, Finalmente, Deixei o Sol Entrar", Andrei Machado proves that he has not lost his strength, that his music outbreaks and turns itself in light, and yet can melt into emotive tears. In his new work Andrei Machado justifies himself and vigorously demontrates that music, the beautiful music in its most classic tone, is still here: it exists.
