Sir Christopher Lee i Toki! Brendi i tompus, zombi DVD u šteku... Legenda.

Barcelona-based director and producer Antoni Sole is set to shoot the horror film Web Cam in 3D with Michael Madsen, Robert Englund and Estella Warren attached to star.

The film will be a co-production between Sole's own outfit ABS Film Company, Canada's Caramel Film and Media Pro in Romania, where the film is set to shoot next year at the Media Pro studios.

Based on a script by Sole and Davis and Ivan Serra, Web Cam tells the story of a man who lures a group of high school kids to a party, films them using discreet cameras and broadcasts it on the net. People are then asked to vote on who should die and who should live.

Junio Valverde (pictured), one of ScreenDaily's Stars of Tomorrow, has also been cast alongside up and coming Spanish actress, Amaia Salamanca.

"Zona mrtvih" nominovana za najbolji horor film
Tanjug | 12. 01. 2010.

U filmu se pojavljuje mnogobrojna internacionalna ekipa glumaca predvođena Kenom Forijem, legendom ovog žanra koji iza sebe ima više uloga u filmovima američke produkcije ("Dawn of the Dead" Džordža Romera, "Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III"). Uz Forija, glume i Kristina Klebe, Emilio Roso, Miodrag Krstović, Vukota Brajović, Ariadna Kabrol, Marko Janjić, Nenad Ćirić i drugi.
Film će se uskoro pojaviti i u DVD izdanju.

OMG, Japancima je PDV samo 5%! Mada, 40$ za DVD i nije baš malo...

crippled_avenger

A evo recimo X-CROSS Kente Fukasakua košta 37 dolara. Hm.

pošto je u englesku već otišo kao APOCALYPSE NOW OF THE DEAD, u americi bi mogao da igra kao 2013: YEAR OF THE DEAD ili ZOMBIELAND OF THE DEAD.

APOCALYPSE OF THE DEAD

(A.k.a. ZONE OF THE DEAD; ZONA MRTVIH)

"This city is a living Hell" ...

The film begins in a Yugoslavian research centre in 1985, where scientists mull over the origins of exhumed corpses discovered on the site. This brief prologue ends with the lead doctor instructing his underling to store the bodies in a secret vault - and offers us a brief glimpse of why these cadavers are of such concern: they're not dead!

Then we cut to Pancevo, Serbia. It is the present day. A local train station has closed down its services for the evening to accommodate a covert military operation taking place in the area. The operation concerns a huge tanker with bio-hazardous warning signs on it's sides, guarded closely by men in protective masks.

Unfortunately an altercation between the station guard and a trio of drunken off-duty soldiers results in a bullet being shot through the tanker - causing a toxic green gas to seep out into the night air. Before long, everyone at the station has been transformed into fast-moving flesh-eaters. Everyone, that is, save for a terrified aged Professor (Steve Agnew).

In another district of Serbia known as Vrsac, we're introduced to agent Mina (Kristina Klebe) who has the arduous task of transferring a fist-happy criminal (Emilio Roso) from one state prison to another. As the hard-arsed prisoner is cuffed and led to the back of a waiting van, the nervous first-timer Mina carefully plans her route while waiting for her guide, Mortimer (Ken Foree).

We first meet Mortimer in his hotel room, preparing to face the world by taking a concoction of pills to help forget the wife he keeps a photograph of at his side. His assistant Belic (Miodrag Krstovic) calls round, and together they saunter out to meet Mina, her driver Petrovic (Zivko Grubor), assistant agent Bottin (Vahidin Prelic) and the prisoner. Mortimer chuckles to himself, remarking upon how easy this assignment is going to be...

Elsewhere an inmate escapes from a local asylum after witnessing a nun transform into a rabid zombie; the country's President (Nenad Ciric) has problems of his own when he realises a certain level of culpability for the unfolding zombie epidemic rests at his feet; a young couple out driving for the night encounter some folk shuffling oddly in the night.

It's not long before this disparate assortment of characters are drawn together for a very long night of fighting for their lives against increasingly large hordes of the living dead.

Can Mina and Mortimer make it to the other side of Serbia unscathed? Will they be forced to trust their prisoner and join forces with him in order to survive the night?

From the film's UK title, the DVD cover art, the synopsis and the inclusion of Foree in the lead role, it's not difficult to guess where co-directors Milan Konjevic and Milan Todorovic have drawn their inspiration from. Furthermore, having characters that go by names shared by luminaries of the horror genre (Bottin; Savini) is a tell-tale fanboy trait that was used to equally cringe-inducing effect back in 1985's THE DEAD NEXT DOOR.

APOCALYPSE is indeed a shameless homage/rip-off of Romero's living dead films (with a little bit of RESIDENT EVIL thrown in for good measure), offering hardly anything in the way of originality to speak of. But the Serbian filmmakers have compensated for the weak story and unabashed convention-adhering, by turning in a breathless zombie-actioner with a breakneck pace and startlingly high body count.

The film's shortcomings are familiar ones: beyond the contrived and familiar storyline, you'll find terrible dialogue spoken largely in broken English by a cast of Serbian actors. Foree gets to holler laughable clichs like "Die you zombie bastard!", but does so with his usual gusto and at the very least looks like he's having fun during his paid holiday.

Characters are two-dimensional and further add to the sense of dj vu that permeates throughout the film. A tough veteran cop with a troubled family background, trying to make it through his last day of work before retiring? Check. The female rookie who learns the hard way how to become a nails-hard heroine? Check. You get the idea.

Also, the shaky hand-held camera work (a nod to Romero again, pointing at DIARY OF THE DEAD perhaps?) is simply tiresome now. I'm sure I'll develop cataracts sitting through the dozens of 21st Century horror films that employ this annoying (and quickly-becoming-dated) technique. Inevitably the film recalls DIARY on a visual level because of this, as well as perhaps [REC]. But it's possibly even more influenced by modern computer games than anything else once it escalates into little more than a shoot-em-up in the latter half.

On the plus side, the pace is brisk as previously suggested. Foree could sell shit on TV and I'd buy it; he doesn't disappoint here.

The gore FX of Miroslav Lakobrija are plentiful, and for the most part are pretty good. I also like his zombie make-up. It's primitive, but effective in illustrating the undead as ugly decaying monsters. None of those "blue paint" DAWN zombies here ...

Dramatically, the film keeps a dark tone and builds steadily to a violent climax. In other words, it ticks the boxes that most unrepentant zombie hounds will be looking for. This is hardly surprising, seeing as though esteemed Italian genre critic Loris Curci had a hand in co-producing the film.

And so, APOCALYPSE OF THE DEAD stands as a flawed but fun cheapo proffering; it's Serbia's first zombie film, and despite my misgivings it's not all that bad.

APOCALYPSE is presented uncut in it's original 1.85:1 ratio, enhanced for 16x9 TV sets. The colour schemes employed in the film are somewhat washed out, and the transfer stays true to this. A dull veneer doesn't stop images being clean and relatively sharp though, with only the occasional murkiness and image-blur that you'd expect from a shot-on-digital production.

English audio comes in two options: 2.0 and 5.1. The latter is a surprisingly competent mix, allowing for fine balance between channels and a nice amount of bass during the meatier set-piece scenes.

A colourful animated main menu page leads into a scene-selection menu providing access to the film via 12 chapters.

There are no film-related extras on Metrodome's disc.

The disc is defaulted to open with trailers for THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL, MANHUNT and Wes Craven's original THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT.

APOCALYPSE OF THE DEAD is a so-so addition to the 21st Century zombie onslaught, making an impression by way of some high-octane action sequences and an agreeable amount of undead gore.

The broken accents make it sound like you're watching a video game and the script is so hackneyed that at times this feels like a pastiche. But it's a commendably serious-natured horror whose greatest flaw is it's own naivety.

Worth a look.

Review by Stuart Willis

http://blogs.coventrytelegraph.net/thegeekfiles/2010/02/dvd-review-eastern-european-zo.html

IN THE ghoulish tradition of George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead comes Serbia's first entry in the zombie genre, entitled Apocalypse of the Dead.

Released by Metrodome on DVD in the UK and Ireland on Monday, March 1, it's directed by Milan Konjevic and Milan Todorovic.

The film stars American actor Ken Foree who, notably, was in the 1979 original of Dawn of the Dead. Foree, 61, was also in Rob Zombie's 2007 remake of Halloween while his surname is referenced in the 2004 spoof Shaun of the Dead.

The actor, in his first lead role for three decades, plays Interpol agent Mortimer Reyes who, with rookie colleague Mina Milius (Kristina Klebe), is part of a group transporting a dangerous prisoner (Emilio Roso) to Belgrade. Klebe was also in the Halloween remake.

They encounter rampaging hordes of zombies in a plague of terror which has been created by a toxic leak and spread by the creatures' blood-thirsty bites.

As the group gradually falls prey to the attacks of the undead, Reyes and Milius must join forces with the prisoner to fight for their lives and escape.

It all has a B-movie sensibility. But - despite the obviously moderate budget, a muddled beginning with far too many strands, and some weak acting and dialogue that even a mutant plague cannot reanimate from limp lifelessness - it does deliver moments of genuine dramatic tension and plenty of zombie action setpieces for fans of the genre, building to an effective action-packed climax.

We see the group take on the resurrected citizens (in convincing make-up, it has to be said) using swords and bullets, with the help of a religious zealot who is as good with guns as he is with with Biblical quotations.

Foree carries the film well, as does Roso in the role of the charismatic convict who proves more than useful when flesh-eating nightmares are on the march. Klebe seems a little wooden at first but grows into the role.

As always in these types of horror films, characters often seem to act in absurd ways so that they become vulnerable to whatever menace is at the core of the story. Nonetheless, fans of the zombie genre, and of B-movie horror in general, will no doubt enjoy this release.

Extras on the DVD are: The Making of Apocalypse of The Dead and the trailer. Certificate 18, running time 89 minutes.

Apocalypse of the Dead (Review)
My Reviewer -Curtis Owen

http://www.myreviewer.com/default/a125952/Apocalypse_of_the_Dead_Review

Any film that uses the esteemed '...of the Dead' to identify itself must adhere to a certain set of rules laid down by the Godfather of Gore. They include a well-developed plot, authentic dialogue, decent acting, gore splattered visuals, a sharp subtext, downbeat humour, kinetic editing and an eye for the zombie mythology that fans hold dear to their rotting hearts. What does Apocalypse of the Dead contain that makes it any different from the horde of other zombie movies?

'Zilch', 'diddly squat', 'nothing', 'zero'. It's your bog-standard exploitative zombie-fest in the same shrivelled up vein as The Zombie Diaries, Flight of the Living Dead, House of the Dead, Resident Evil, Zombie Strippers and the rotting crowd of remake rip-offs like Dawn of the Dead (2004), Night of the Living Dead 3D (2006) and Day of the Dead (2008). I don't want to exhaust your sophisticated tastes by making this list any longer than it needs to be.  That wouldn't be fair. Then again, maybe I'm not being fair by being a pretentious, stuck up my own arse zombie snob. Don't let me taint your judgement. You might enjoy these movies for what they are. Like you might enjoy Apocalypse of the Dead for what it is: a thoughtless zombie feast with kick-ass visuals.

I on the other hand like my zombie movies with a bit of substance - like drinking a bottle of whiskey. If you drink that cheap imitation stuff, it aint gonna give you the same kick as the expensive ****. Whiskey should be smooth and make you feel woozy like a baseball bat to the head. Only a few zombie movies have achieved this baseball effect, they are the groundbreaking and downbeat Night of the Living Dead (1968), the vigorous and pleasurable Dawn of the Dead (1978), the bleak and hopeless Day of the Dead (1985) and the action orientated Land of the Dead (2005).

When you look at the big picture, one thing becomes clear: nobody does zombies like the Don of the Dead. Why settle for a pale imitation when you can experience the real deal? That's why my anger reaches boiling point when it comes to stylistic movies like Apocalypse of the Dead. They are inadequate, redundant and they have no meaning.  They have no mood beyond their visual sparkle. They have no passion - no personality. The characterisation is ****. The dialogue always comes across as wooden and they lack the most important ingredient to any self-respected zombie flick: subtext.

I'm afraid to explore the cogs and bolts of Apocalypse of the Dead because I'll develop a taste for the way it looks. I can't help it. Everybody likes a cheap bottle of whiskey now and again (even us pretentious zombie folk need it to appreciate the good ****). For one, it stars the legendary Ken Foree (who was in Romero's Dawn of the Dead). He plays Agent Mortimer Reyes, a zombie hunter of sorts who oozes with personality. Foree is a decent actor who knows how to convey emotion, keep us entertained and he has the eyes of a thespian (they always have something lurking behind them).

Fans of Foree will remember his performances in Nickelodeon's Kenan & Kel. He also appeared as one-off characters in LOADS of TV series including The A-Team, Knight Rider, Quantum Leap, Cheers, Babylon 5 and The X-Files. His movie credits include Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990), Black Santa's Revenge (2007) and Rob Zombie's The Haunted World of El Superbeasto (2009). Foree is the 'only' redeeming quality of Apocalypse of the Dead, without him the film would fall firmly on its arse. There is no denying the visuals are beautiful but visuals are NEVER enough. You can see why the filmmakers of this travesty decided to attach themselves to such a legendary actor. It gives them the quality they so desperately need.

Special Features: None.

Verdict: Apocalypse of the Dead is a prime example of a corpse wedged in its own grave. It looks good but it's redundant. When you can play zombie computer games like Left 4 Dead 2 what's the point of watching middle-of the-road zombie movies except to marvel at their Romeroeque visuals?

Rivju ZONE na španskom::::

Zone Of The Dead (Zona mrtvih, original title) arrived at 2009 BARS brandishing the label "the first zombie movie from Serbia" (even if it had co-production with Spain and Italy), a product that proved most entertaining Lucas Robledo we saw in this year's festival ... and not just for its originality and quality but quite the opposite.

The movie-surprise-filled room was screened a second time Tuesday, 3 November and tells the story of Interpol agents (which are Ken Foree from Dawn Of The Dead and Kristina Klebe of Rob Zombie's Halloween) that must transport a dangerous prisoner to Belgrade for his extradition. However, in the way they encounter a horde of zombies product of a botched military experiment.

The movie has enough action, good effects of makeup on the zombies (although these are sounds that look like something out of Jurassic Park!) And is full of nods to the sub-genre that only the supporters will enjoy.

However, the actions are not the best nor try to be as Zone of the Dead only aims to entertain and achieved exactly the basis of poor performances in general and stereotypical characters as possible that were the delight of the audience (especially a religious fanatic just out of jail armed to the teeth).
