Novi korejski bioskopski hit je samo svojom početnom premisom pretendovao da bude na tragu masterpisa kakav je Parkov JSA. Međutim, Tajna udružba mnogo više nalikuje sličnim špijunskim holivudskim klonovima, tako da mu u poređenje sa njima dođe kao lepo doterana i našminkana kopija loših i prežvakanih američkih originala.

Kompeleksnost i zategnutost političkih odnosa između dve zavađene bratske nacije je nažalost na mnogo višem i kontemplativnijem nivou nego što nam Hu Jang prezentuje u njegovom prvom kompletnom autorskom debiju. S obzirom da je sarađivao kao asistent režije sa već iskusnim i velikim imenom kao što je Ki-Duk Kim, Jangova režija nije previše ipitna. Tajna udružba je kvalitetno i temeljito odrađen akcijaš, ali na nivou dramatike, lucidnosti i maštovitosti Jang još uvek ima mnogo toga da nauči od svojih mentora.

Providan plot ostaje plesniv do samog holivud endinga. Humor na nivou srednjoškolskog vica, nedostatak tradicionalnog crnog humora, tako karakterističnog za Korejce. Sve su to neoprostivi propusti, koji sudbinu ovog filmčića ne dobacuju ni do nivoa prosečnog mejnstrim letnjeg hita.

Svetla tačka je opet jedino Kang-ho Song, čije glumačke trasnformacije su već odavno prevazišle okvire korejske filmske industrije.

Evo još jednog autorskog debija koji je pretendovao da bude mnogo uspešniji nego što to krajnji učinak govori.

Iako naslov otvoreno asocira na metafizičke elemente u dramaturškoj postavci priče, Parallel Life je mnogo više akcioni triler, nego li sci-fi fentezi flik.

Život ljigavog sudije se okreće naglavačke kada počnu da mu se dešavaju identične nezgode kao i njegovom prethodniku od pre 30 godina... tandara-broć!

Jeste da se neki događaji u ovom filmu prepliću i ponavljaju, što ga čini dinamičnim, ali u suštini, gotovo sve vreme, ima se neki čudan osećaj da smo ovako nešto več više puta u životu videli ili čuli. Nije da baš po svaku cenu tražim i zahtevam novum, ali šaka maštovitosti bi bila dovoljna da  zadovolji gladnog kritičara, kamoli gledaoca.

Kao da novija ekipa korejskih autora nije imala od koga da uči; kao da su morali da probijaju led, ruše dogme, bore se sa konzervativnim establišmentom... Ne, sve su to već odradili stariji za njih, tako da mi ovakvi bezmudi pokušaji kopiranja američkih originala služe samo za pothranjivanje agresivnog spisateljskog super-ega!

Pogledao sam UI-HYEONG-JE Hun Janga, poznat i kao SECRET REUNION. Film mi je bio izuzetno zanimljiv i lepo mi je legao. Kada je SHIRI uspeo da omasovi i internacionalizuje visokobudžetni korejski repertoarski film uvodeći koncept rip-offa na visokom nivou kao koncept, nešto što je delovalo kao dead end na kraju se pretvorilo u početak razvoja jedne vrlo kvalitetne i autentične filmske industrije koja će potom iznedriti Chan Wooka i Bonga. UI-HYEONG-JE je povratak na liniju te rip-off koncepcije, ali sa iskustvom vrlo kreativne kinematografije nastale u međuvremenu.

Ono što karakteriše UI-HYEONG-JE je pre svega utisak da taj rip-off više nije samo mehaničko preslikavanje američkog uzora već i da uspeva da funkcioniše na nivou karaktera i emocije što raniji filmovi tog tipa nisu uspevali. Sigurno je tome doprineo i Song Kang-ho koji je uostalom almunus SHIRIja iako ga prevashodno znamo po radu sa Chan Wookom i Bongom.

Song ovde ima ulogu sa kojom želi da se nametne kao korejski Bruce Willis. Njegov lik počinje kao južnokorejski Jack Bauer a potom ga sudbina učini tamošnjom Joe Hallenbeckom. Buddy formula se sprovodi spajanjem njega sa starim severnokorejskim rivalom. Pošto je obojicu napustila matična služba, oni su primorani da rade kao private dickovi na ponižavajućem poslu lova na odbegle mail order brides, iako zapravo pokušavaju i da rade jedan drugom o glavi.

UI-HYEONG-JE što se mene tiče, ima koncept pravljen za lokalno tržište ali uspeva da se nametne kao sasvim pristojan dodatak internacionalnoj tradiciji buddy cop filma. Svakako da kao i inače sa azijskim filmom ima tih nekih uneasy promena u tonu između ozbiljnosti i komedije, ali to je svedeno na minimum. Doduše, sasvim je moguće da mi je film lepo legao jer sam sucker za buddy cop filmove.

Interesantno je koliki stepen uvažavanja prema pojedincima iz Severne Koreje pokazuju južnokorejski autori. Ako imamo na umu stepen zaoštrenosti odnosa, čini se da su ovi filmovi pravljeni ne samo kako bi pokazali empatiju prema narodu, nego kao da postoji i svest o tome da se gledaju na Severu. Znamo da je Kim Jong Il ozbiljno potegao da nabavi SHIRI u vreme izlaska, a ovaj film će mu biti još zanimljiviji jer se deo zapleta odnosi i na ubistvo njegovog odbeglog rođaka.

Film nudi dosta male bondinga i bromancinga za one koji to vole ali i dva izvanredna akciona set-piecea u kojima Hun Jang radi onu vrstu akcije po kojoj je Holivud poznat i pokazuje da to itekako može dobro i ubedljivo da se uradi u Koreji.

U krajnjem zbiru, što potvrđuje i odličan rezultat sa blagajni, UI-HYEONG-JE nudi odličan crowd pleasing, u jednoj formi koju je proslavio Holivud ali joj se sve ređe vraća na pravi način.

Pogledao sam izvanredan kratkometražni film INFLUENZA Bong Joon Hoa.

Film je koncipuiran kao kolekcija CCTV snimaka jednog čoveka koji od tipično socijalno ugroženog nezaposlenog pojedinca postaje beskrupulozni lopov i na kraju ubica sa psihopatskim ponašanjem.

Bong je maestralno režirao ovaj film ne samo zbog sjajne postavke mizan kadrova koji se beleže CCTV kamerama već i zbog poigravanja sa samom percepcijom unutar prizora, naročito u slučaju kamera koje nude mogućnost split-screen slike ili švenka.

Štaviše, INFLUENZA je film koji je naizgled jednostavan ali zapravo poziva na više gledanja kako bi se uhvatili svi detalji u Bongovoj egzekuciji.

Naravno, u osnovi svega je izuzetno britak humor ovog reditelja & scenariste od koga INFLUENZA vrca i crni humor izbija iz samih situacija. INFLUENZA je aposlutna preporuka za sve one koje zanima kratki film a naročito one koji žele da se bave filmom.

The story follows Chow Wai-On, a Ming Dynasty General whose rivalry with the power-hungry eunuch Tsao Siu-Yan reaches a climax at the deserted Dragon Gate Inn.

Zhou Xun will play Jade, the inn's seductive owner and possible love interest for Li's character. No casting has yet taken place for the role of Tsao, though shooting kicks off in September.

Hark wrote and produced a previous remake in 1992 which starred the likes of Tony Leung, Maggie Cheung and Donnie Yen.

Twenty-five years later, Yutaka is still married and now has two sons, but he can't seem to shake the memory of his brief love affair in 1975. He travels back to Bangkok on business, unaware that he's destined to be reunited with Toko once again.

An interesting note that despite this being a Japanese language movie, this is a South Korean production. There were two versions released: one being this presentation and a 170 minute version.

Synopsis

Rena Jodo (Sola Aoi) is a stripper who just got back from Mexico and she has been offered a gig at a hot spring resort. When she arrives, she finds a deserted country town. There's hardly anyone in the audience at the strip club and all the other strippers, including Ginko (Risa Kasumi), Maria (Mari Sakurai), Nene (Tamayo) and Dana (Io Aikawa) are all bored stiff. They don't know what to do with their time and they are on the verge of fighting each other. ¶ When they decide to go down to the basement of the club to kill time, Maria finds a 'Book of the Dead' near the 'Well of the Spirit'. But who could have imagined the horror and panic that find would bring? Maria's reading of the book out loud has somehow revived the dead and zombies start appearing all over the world attacking mankind. It's Hell in the real world! ¶ Dana and Nene are bitten by the zombies and they turn into living dead who attack Rena and Ginko. The poor big-bosomed babes have no choice but to fight against Maria who now rules the zombies and tries to establish a kingdom of zombies. Synopsis/ Plot
Shinichi Sanada, a young high school student, attempts to kill himself by jumping to his death. Shinichi survives but is seriously injured. Hayato decides to talk one of Shinichi's teachers named Kyoko Aizawa (Shion Machida). Hayato can't get many answers from Kyoko Aizawa except cryptic warnings to "watch out" and "be careful."

Shortly later, Hayato Fujiwara is chased by a gang of youths led by Kenji Todoroki (Shunya Shiraishi). Hayato is able to escape, while also capturing one of the youths named Masashi Kajima (Shoichi Matsuda). After confronting Masashi, Hayato learns about a secret game that forcibly requires people to participate. Secrets are revealed and the stakes are incredibly high. Soon, Hayato Fujiwara becomes involved in the game and he's determined to survive, while protecting his very own secret that should never come out.

Despite IMDB stating that this is a horror, it is far from being a horror genre, but rather a drama akin to Battle Royale and Crow's Zero, a thriller/action picture.

Plot/Synopsis

"Actor/director Taguchi Tomorowo's second feature tells a sexual coming-of-age story about an average, if extraordinarily excitable, teenage boy. The year is 1974 and the setting is Kyoto, Japan's ancient capital. Since Taguchi was a teenager at the same time and, like the hero, had a major fixation on Bob Dylan, the film has an autobiographical element, as well as a warm glow of nostalgia. (The novel on which the film is based, however, is by Miura Jun.) What sets Oh, My Buddha! apart from the many similar seishun eiga ("youth films") in Japan by similarly nostalgic middle-aged directors, is that, instead of trying idealize his youthful self (or rather his fictional stand-in), Taguchi gives us a hero who is dopey, gawky and sex-besotted in the extreme. At the same time, this hero, Jun (Watanabe Daichi), is not a comic caricature, though his adventures, including the romantic and erotic, are mostly played for laughs. He is rather an average middle-class kid in whom many a male audience member will see his idiotic adolescent self, whether he wants to admit it or not. Jun attends a Buddhist high school, which may sound New Age-y, but the black- uniformed student body is universally bored by the chanting and other religious rigamarole that is being crammed down their throats. Instead, Jun and two of his pals become obsessed with a plan for vacationing on an island known for its "free sex." But when they finally arrive for their three-day stay (all they can evidently afford), they find themselves in an ordinary youth hostel, managed by a welcoming, worldly-wise hippie who calls himself Hige Godzilla (Bearded Godzilla, Mineta Kazunobu). Promisingly, though, one of their fellow guests is the sweet, curvy, easy-going Olive (Usuda Asami) - or "free sex" personified. When she learns that Jun is a guitar player and song writer - and asks him to sing and write something for her - his hopes soar. Oh, My Buddha! wouldn't be a comedy if Jun's hopes weren't dashed (though not completely). It also wouldn't be a seishun eiga if he didn't also find himself attracted to Kyoko (Ishibashi Anna), his pretty, virginal classmate since childhood, to whom he can barely speak: pure-hearted puppy love of this sort is a genre staple. The film, though, is light on cliches, dense with close, funny observations about its period and characters. You don't have to be a Japanese of Taguchi's generation to understand Jun's growing pains, which are universal. It may make you wish, though, that you had taken up the guitar, a peerless seduction tool, even in the hands of a teenage goof. Mark Schilling"

South Korea's Goyang City is kicking up interest with new initiatives to bring in film production houses and creating a $29.02m (KW34bn) visual media fund with Gyeonggi Province.

Im Kwon-taek, Bong Joon-ho, Park Chan-wook, Ryoo Seung-wan, Kim Jee-woon, Jang Jin, and Choi Dong-hoon were among the filmmakers who signed an MOU with the city last week agreeing to move their offices to Goyang to create jobs and improve the contents production environment there.

About an hour's drive from downtown Seoul, the satellite city in Gyeonggi Province recently announced plans to develop itself into a film, broadcasting and communications hub. In addition to the new fund, the city is covering rent on the building where the film companies are gathered, so that the filmmakers only have to pay for utilities. Goyang also offers producers 50% back on expenses paid to businesses based in the city for food, lodging and post-production. Additionally, they can get a loan of up to $42,700 (KW50m) without deposit from the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation.

Film and broadcasting-related companies such as Barunson, Shin Cine and CJ Power Cast have been relocating from Seoul to Goyang since 2007. The city has four buildings which house about 70 companies in the broadcasting, film, and high-tech IT sectors.
