Plot/Synopsis

Plot:
Continuing from where the first film left off, Wing Chun master Ip Man and his family move to Hong Kong in the early 1950s after their escape from the Japanese. Ip Man decides to open a school to teach Wing Chun and propagate the martial art, as well as make his living. However, as Ip Man's fame is not well known in the region, he has a hard time looking for students. After more than a week, a young man named Wong Leung (Huang Xiaoming) appears and asks to be taught Wing Chun. Upon first meeting the unassuming Ip, Wong challenges him to a fight and declares he will take him as his master and pay his school fees if he loses. After a couple of rounds of sparring, Ip easily defeats Wong, sending the humiliated young man leaving and coming back with a group of his friends who attempt to gang up on Ip. However, they are no match for Ip as he beats them. Stunned and impressed by his skills, Wong and his friends become his students. Eventually, Wong brings in additional students.

One day, while Ip is out shopping for his family, he encounters his old friend Chow Ching-chuen (Simon Yam), who has become a beggar. Ip meets his son Kong-yiu, who tells him that his father suffered brain damage from a gunshot wound to the head while fleeing from the Japanese during their occupation years ago. As a result, Chow no longer recognizes anyone. Ip is saddened by his friend's fate and offers to help Kong-yiu take care of his father. He also helps Kong-yiu by finding him a job in a newspaper agency run by Leung Kan (Pierre Ngo), who earlier helped Ip find a suitable location for his Wing Chun school.

Pogledao sam povratničku režiju Yuen Woo Pinga TRUE LEGEND. Meni je Yuen Woo Ping jedan od najdražih, ako ne i najdraži hongkonški reditelj. Iako naravno ne spadaju svi filmovi u njegov kanonski opus tipa TIGER CAGE ili IN THE LINE OF DUTY, ono što volim je stvarno klasika i pokazuje da je on nesporno najbolji koreograf među Yuenima. DRUNKEN MASTER, IRON MONKEY a naročito TAI CHI MASTER spadaju ne samo u vrhunac njegovog opusa već stoje i kao najbitnije tačke glumaca koji su u njima igrali.

Nažalost, u novom filmu Yuen Woo Ping pokazuje da luta. Godine rada na poslu akcionog koreografa učinile su da malo izgubi rediteljski edge. Ranije je pored akcije, Woo Ping odlično vodio priču, o okvirima onoga što su zahtevi žanra. Uostalom pogledajmo TAI CHI. Sada međutim, u ovom talasu renesanse HK filma, Yuen ne uspeva da nađe ono po čemu se ranije izdvajao. U izvesnom smislu Yuen Woo Pinga je iskvario Zapad. I to ne samo u smislu pokušaja da približi HK film zapadnoj publici. Štaviše, TRUE LEGEND ima manji potencijal crossovera nego ikada. Problem je u tome što on primenjuje neke stvari koje je pokupio sa Zapada u lokalnim filmovima koji nemaju puno perspektive van matičnog tržišta u Kini.

Prvo, TRUE LEGEND je neopravdano ambiciozan na nivou priče. Yuen Woo Ping nudi tri filma, ili barem dva filma u jednom. Od ta dva, barem jedan, to jest samo razrešenje priče na borilčačkom turniru je apsolutni višak jer se ne bavi onim što je osnovna tema filma niti postavka karaktera. Svakako da su izvesni motivi u tom razrešenju proistekli iz tog središnjeg dela, ali oni sugerišu jednu epsku strukturu koju sama priča ne zaslužuje.

Glumačka podela je lokalna, bez ikakve mogućnosti crossovera. Meni kao nekome ko ipak poznaje HK film ali ne može da pobegne od problema nerazlikovanja azijskih glumaca, ovaj naslov nije bio tegoba. Junaci su kastovani tako da se razlikuju, međutim, glumci su potpuno lišeni harizme. U zanemarljivo maloj ulozi pojavljuje se Michelle Yeoh.

Ono što je najzanimljivije na nivou reference jeste Yuen Woo Pingova polemika sa KILL BILLom. Ne samo da se u maloj ulozi negativca pojavljuje David Carradine već i Gordon Liu igra rolu vrlo sličnu Pei Meiju. Inače, Yuen Woo Ping je bio koreograf borbi u KILL BILLu i izvorno je razmatran da igra Pei Meija.

Pored toga, film nudi sličnu priču o osveti i rehabilitaciji povređenog junaka, tehniku Five Deadly Venoms i živosahranjivanje junakinje.

Ono što je možda najveći letdown su borbe. Yuen Woo Ping je doveo wirework do ovoga što je on danas, i tu mi wirework sam po sebi ne smeta. Međutim, ovde je zaista prevelik spoj CGIja sa wireworkom, a čak su i čitavi setovi CGI tako da se izgubio onaj stari utuisak da u tim borbama ima istinske akrobatike i čisto filmskih trikova sa kamerom i montažom. CGI sve to obesmišljava i čini se da umesto proširi horizont Yuenovih zahvata on ih sužava.

Tako se TRUE LEGEND svodi na sećanje na neke mnogo bolje filmove čiji se duh povremeno oseti u ponekoj situaciji, ali to ipak nije dovoljno od jednog takvog reditelja kao što je Yuen Woo Ping.

Plot Summary:

Synopsis/ Plot:
On a hot steamy day in Yurakupo, a man falls down ont the asphalt. Salarymen and OL's walk by him, before he gets himself up. The 26 year old man's name is Masao Oneta (Teppei Koike).

When Masao arrives home he turns on the computer and logs onto the internet. He inputs his nickname MAO and writes that his job is a programmer and warns others of the dangers of working at his company. A reply is left for Masao asking why his company is dangerous. He then starts to write his story and what pushed him to the limit.

Masao was bullied in high school so he dropped out of school and did not leave his room for 8 years. His mother died and Masao decided to get a programmer's certificate. The economy was bad and it wasn't easy to find a job, but Masao found a job at a small IT company six months ago - 'Kuroishi Systems Corporation'.

The company was a black company (Japanese slang for companies that overwork their employees). From his first day at the company Masao was placed in an unimaginable work environment and overworked. His boss Michihiro Abe (Hiroshi Shinagawa) acted as if he had no responsibilities, co-worker Tetsuya Ide (Tetsuhiro Ikeda) always seemed to be up to suspicious things, another co-worker Takumi Fujita Seiichi Tanabe) seemed like a nice guy but acted as if he was hiding a secret, while the company president Sakushi Kuroi (Leo Morimoto) seemed to have his own secrets. The workers often shouted at each other & sometimes fought with each other. The workload was so heavy that they sometimes didn't have time to sleep or rest.

Masao eventually gets promoted to project leader and the company hires two new employees. The two new employees are beautiful Ayako Nakanishi (Maiko) & the ambitious Shota Kimura (Kei Tanaka). With the addition of these two new employees the moral of the office improves temporarily. But then Masao gets the worst news. He starts to tear up and shouts at the workers in the office. Mao then runs out of the office. Is it possible for the workers to meet the project deadline?

1. Story is based on a popular forum thread on the Japanese website 2chan - the same website where the story for "Densha Otoko" first originated.
2. The term "black company" (burakku gaisha) is a Japanese slang referring to companies which overwork their employees beyond the legal limits and exploit people who cant find a better jobs.

After eight years of soul-searching filmic experiments, using himself, his art and everything he did in the past for metaphorical purposes, Takeshi Kitano is back at what obviously comes easiest for him, another Yakuza picture, his first since Brother (2000). And indeed, he willingly admits that shooting violence is one of his specialties, as simple for him to put on screen as preparing an everyday dish is for an experienced cook.

    The film does have qualities that Kitano aficionados will enjoy.

He certainly seems to relish the experience here, improvising new ways of administering brutal beatings, chopping off fingers, sticking chopsticks in victims' ears, drilling out their teeth, strangling the life out of them, blowing up their heads and more, all with a cold-blooded efficiency that will discourage even his most ardent followers from attempting to make sense of all the mayhem.

His Yakuza films have always been amongst his most successful in international markets, and buyers will be happy to see Kitano back in the gangster market.

Fast-forwarding into a war of succession that shakes the entire Tokyo crime world and spares no one, Kitano's picture looks dangerously similar to an exploitation movie catering to a type of audience which doesn't really care who was standing behind the camera.

The Chairman of Sanno-kai (Kitamura), the ruling Yakuza clan in town, is displeased with one of his affiliates, Ikemoto (Kunimura), for striking an alliance with the drug-dealing Murase family. This has to stop immediately and Ikemoto asks Otomo (Takeshi), who heads one of his subsidiary gangs, to appease the Boss and make a tentative move against Murase (Ishibashi).

As one violent action is retaliated by an even more violent one, this triggers an orgy of killings, takeovers of territories and settling of accounts, in which promises, commitments, obligations or business ties are completely ignored, as each of the warriors in the field trying to manipulate or eliminate the competition. In the ensuing free-for-all, no one is safe, from the most insignificant soldiers to the highest echelons, while the law, far too corrupt to put a stop to it all, allows itself to be bribed and sits back, enjoying the show.

The film, though, does have qualities that Kitano aficionados will enjoy. The plot, making no concessions, works like a perfectly tuned homicidal machine and all its characters are despicable villains that can't possibly have any sympathy for them.

Impeccably shot and cut, with clever sound design enhancing the violence, the images rush impetuously ahead, stressing the hard lines of a perfectly ordered world, almost antiseptic in its shining brilliance, a clean bright world, strangely unmoved and unconcerned with the Yakuzas who race through it, frenetically driven in black limousines which more often than not end by being their own coffins.

SEOUL -- Kim Ji-woon's "I Saw the Devil," a hard-boiled thriller starring a pair of top Korean actors -- Choi Min-shik ("Oldboy") and Lee Byung-hun ("G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra") -- was picked up by France's ARP in a presale at Cannes on Thursday, according to Seoul-based sales outfit Finecut.

ARP bought the director's previous "kimchi Western" "The Good, the Bad, the Weird" at Cannes in 2007 for a wide release in France and other Asian arthouse films including Wong Kar-wai's "Happy Together."

"Kim has a unique style for variation of genres including comedy, horror and film noir," ARP chief Michele Halberstadt said. "'The Good, the Bad, the Weird' was an unseen Western film. We expect that his new thriller will show something new."

Kim's promo film screened in Cannes on Friday and will screen again Sunday. "I Saw the Devil" is the story of a man chasing a psychopath who murdered his fiancee. The film will be released in Korea in the summer.

Dobro si ovo napisao, sa CGI , wire-fu je izgubio smisao, sve je toliko vjestacki da je nemoguce gledati.
Sto se tice koreografija, meni se mnogo vise svidja Ching Siu Thung (Duel To The Death) i neki filmovi kasne faze Shaw Brothersa.

Plot Summary:

Nema mi tu neku tezinu. Prvi deo je ipak mnogo vishe okrenut Kini i njihovoj tradiciji..

Ovaj Zebraman me intrigira... Prvi mi je bio prerazvučen i premalo smešan, ali kako Miike u poslednje vreme uglavnom pravi tu neku laku zabavu, ovo bi moglo da bude dobro. Doduše, mali je ovo budžet, cenim, neće tu biti Yatterman ekstravagancije.

The film depicts Hong Kong in the striving 60s, as seen through the eyes of a child. Nosy, naughty and always running into trouble, the kid observes with wit and humor the ever changing society of Hong Kong.

The story revolves around the kid and his family - a working class father, a happy-go-lucky mother, an aspiring, starry-eyed elder brother, and our young protagonist himself. Through the elder brother's first romance, and the family's encounters with love, hope, failure, death and rebirth, we travel back to a place called old Hong Kong, a time we'll always remember, and a place we have always called home.

Plot:
When North Korean secret agent Ji-won (Kang Dong-won) crosses the 38th Parallel on a mission, the National Intelligence Service (NIS) led by Han-gyu (Song Kang-ho) intervenes, and a shooting rampage ensues in the heart of Seoul. For the incident, Han-gyu is fired and Ji-won is deserted by his agency. Six years later, the two meet by chance and start a business partnership in order to steal information from the other.

Plot Summary:
Blind Su-kyeong, an uncle who has the mentality of a 5-year-old, pickpocket Chan-woo, a gentleman who works at a publishing company, Ji-ni at the butcher shop, Ru-pi (?) who has many wounds, and salaryman Man-ho all come out in this movie. Plot/Synopsis

At the end of the Qing Dynasty, war hero Su Can returns home to his beloved wife and their newborn son. Plot:

Synopsis/Plot:

A middle school aged girl is dragged into a car while her screams fades away into the darkness of the night. The next day, the young girl's body is discovered along the Arakawa river. Detectives Takashi Oribe (Yutaka Takenouchi) and Shinichi Mano (Shiro Ito) arrive on the scene and discover that the girl was drugged and sexually assaulted before being brutally murdered. Shortly later, the girl's identity is discovered. Her name is Ema and she is the only daughter of Shigeki Nagamine (Akira Terao). Shigeki Nagamine is then called in to the station to identify her body. After identifying the body of his only daughter Shigeki loses the will to live.

One day, Shigeki receives a phone call from an unidentified person. The unidentified caller leaves Shigeki the names of two young men, Atsuya Tomotaki (Kohei Kuroda) and Kaiji Sukano (Ryosuke Okada), who killed his daughter and also leaves Shigeki the address of Atsuya Tomotaki. Shigeki already frustrated with the lack of progress in the police investigation, decides to go to Atsuya Tomotaki's home.

Shigeki enters the empty apartment of Tomotaki and discovers a video tape containing two men drugging his daughter and then brutally assaulting her. Shigeki is now enraged. Atsuya Tomotaki then enters his apartment. Shigeki stabs Tomotaki to death with a knife, but before he is killed, Shigeki finds out the whereabouts of his accomplice Kaiji Sukano.

Det. Oribe and Det. Mano receives a letter from Shigeki Nagamine confessing to the murder of Atsuya Tomotaki. He writes that because the young men were minors they would have likely gotten light sentences. No matter what, Shigeki cannot forgive the men for what they did to his daughter. The detectives must now track down Shigeki who is a wanted fugitive, while Shigeki hunts for Kaiji Sukano.
