Gun sales soar after Colorado shooting

GUN sales in Colorado have soared in the aftermath of the shooting tragedy in Aurora that claimed 12 lives and left 58 wounded.

Background checks carried out on customers as they buy guns were up 41 per cent in the wake of Friday's shooting at a packed cinema in the Colorado town, the Denver Post reports.

There was also a spike in people seeking training for a concealed carry permit, the report said.

Carrying a handgun or other weapon in public in a concealed manner is legal with a permit in 49 of the 50 US states. Illinois is the only state without such a provision.

Several off-duty Border Patrol agents "tackled" the man and a sheriff's deputy removed him from the theater. Police found an empty alcohol container and a half empty blueberry moonshine bottle in his backpack.

In Los Angeles County, California, authorities arrested a man at a theater in Norwalk on Sunday. The man, identified as Clark Tabor, uttered threats and made references to the Colorado shooting. He was arrested for making terroristic threats. Authorities found a backpack but did not find a weapon in it. They also went to his home but found nothing there.

Sve više mladih u Švedskoj uzima Melanotan, supstancu koja pomaže pri tamnjenju tena, unatoč zdravstvenim problemima i još uvijek nepoznatim dugoročnim posljedicama.

Popularnog naziva 'Barbie drug', Melanotan stimulira hormone, koji potom utječu na mršavljenje i tamnjenje kože, a također povećavaju želju za seksom.

Iako je ova supstanca (razvijena u SAD-u u 80ima) klasificirana kao lijek, zabranjena je u Kanadi i većem dijelu Europe jer nije dovoljno testirana, tako da je njeno konzumiranje ilegalno. Švedska policija primijetila povećan broj uzimanja ove droge u zadnje dvije godine.

,,Nalazimo Melanotan najviše u Stockholmu, u noćnim klubovima kada ciljano tražimo droge i ostale supstance. Ljudi koji je konzumiraju su opsjednuti svojom pojavom i u pravilu će učiniti sve da bi izgledali dobro", rekao je Kristoffer Bohman iz švedske policije za Dagens Nyheter novine.



Kratkoročne nuspojave koje Melanoran uzrokuje su smanjenje apetita, mučnina i promjena kožnih pigmenata koja uključuje potamnjivanje madeža. Također, stručnjaci naglašavaju da može usporiti imunološki i kardiovaskularni sistem. U organizam se unosi pomoću šprica, što stručnjake navodi na dodatan strah po zdravlje konzumenata zbog rizika od dijeljenja igala.

Jedna kozumentica, 19-godišnjakinja koja je željela ostati anonimna, govorila je o popularnosti ove droge kod svojih vršnjaka.

,,Prije nego sam isprobala drogu razgovarala sam s puno ljudi koji su bili zadovoljni s rezultatima. Htjela sam imati identičan smeđi ten", kaže te dodaje da je čula za dva do tri slučaja ozbiljnih nuspojava od tridesetero kozumenata koje poznaje.

Švedska agencija za proizvodnju lijekova (Läkemedelsverket) već je ranije upozorila na zlouporabu Melanotana, a i australske vlasti u zadnju godinu dana upozoravaju na ilegalnu online kupovinu i mogućnost fatalne posljedice.

   The North Korea women's football team staged a protest ahead of their Olympic match in Scotland after a flag blunder.
The South Korean flag was shown by mistake on the big screen inside Hampden Park stadium as the players warmed up to play Colombia.
As a result, the North Koreans refused to play the match at the scheduled 7.45pm start time, and kick-off was delayed for more than an hour.
Their team walked off the pitch but were persuaded to return when the sides were announced again with each player's face displayed next to the North Korean flag.
A statement from Games organisers said: "Today, ahead of the women's football match at Hampden Park, the South Korean flag was shown on a big screen video package instead of the North Korean flag.
"Clearly this is a mistake. We will apologise to the team and the National Olympic Committee and steps will be taken to ensure this does not happen again."
The mistake occurred when a video package was being shown ahead of kick-off, with the North Koreans noticing that their faces were being pictured alongside the South Korean flag. The match eventually began at 8.50pm.
